Anyone watch History Channel: Modern Marvels

danger_zone...

I'm going to miss that plane. It is and will be my all time favorite.
Compared to the newer gen. of fighter/interceptor jets, the F-14 reminds me of a Cadillac in the sky!?! The Joint Strike Fighter, F-22 Raptor, Euro-Fighter, and others have come a long ways from the standard fighter design we've come accustomed to seeing.

F-14, F-15, F-16, and F-18 all represent a surreal time of air supremacy in our nation's history. Much like the NSX, each is an esteemed icon of it's era. :)

I only caught the last half of the show, but the guy narrating was one of the contestants on Survivor a couple seasons back. He was a monster in the physical challenges but not worth a damn at strategy (he finished 3rd).

Oh yeah, the show was good. I set my TiVo to record the whole thing so I can see what I missed.

I got to sit in an F-14D a couple years ago and felt it was the semi-completion of a life dream. Stayed in it for a good 15 minutes just dreaming. Actual completion of the dream would have been to fly one. ;)

hosted by an acquaintance of mine, F-14 pilot (and former Survivor contestant) Terry Deitz

Awesome. I read his Survivor Blog on the CBS website from time to time. He was hugely entertaining on Survivor -- really the main reason to watch the last few weeks of that season. My wife and I were pulling for him even though we both knew he didn't have a snowball's chance of making the final 2.

Fighter guys are not known for their interpersonal skills/diplomacy.

Terry was indeed a monster.... I can't believe he even made it as far as he did. Once he made it that far, I was hoping he'd win the last competition so he would go to the final two (and if he had made it that far, he couldn't lose). This past season, Ozzy was pretty amazing but he was absolutely no Terry (even at half Terry's age).
