Hello everyone,

The next Alfa Romeo Club of Southern California (AROSC) Time Trials and Races are taking place three weeks from today. This event is completely organize an run by AROSC. The cost is $280 plus $10 transponder rental for the weekend, and $150 plus $10 transponder rental for a single day. Below are the safety requirements:

  • Factory seat belt in good working order.
  • Snell 2005 or better helmet.
  • Gloves - Leather or Nomex. No holes or synthetic materials.
  • Natural fiber clothing extending from neck to wrist & ankles.
  • Convertibles: Must have Roll bars extending 2” above top of helmet. “Factory” or “street” bars acceptable for HPDE & Solo groups only.
When you register, you will need to determine what Car Class you will be competing in, and what run group you want run in. Car Class is determined by your car weight divided by HP plus other factors. Your run Run Group depends experience level, i.e., Beginner/Novice, Intermediate and Experienced. A 1997 stock NSX will falls in Class O. I'm not sure what class a pre-1997 OEM NSX falls under. Click on the following link to for greater details on car class:

Your run group is determined as follows:

Beginner/Novice: This group is for drivers with less than 10 track days experience, or the slowest cars. Classroom sessions are included at no cost. Passing is allowed only on specified straights and only with a point-by. The passing procedure details will be explained in the mandatory classroom sessions.

Intermediate: This group is for drivers with about 10 to 20 track days experience and who are comfortable driving on the track. Passing is allowed anywhere but only with a point-by. If the driver being overtaken is not comfortable with someone passing at some point on the track, he/she should not give a point-by at that point. They should, however, try to give a point-by as soon as they are comfortable doing so. A driver who is overtaking another car shall not pass unless they get a point-by and they may elect not to pass in the event they get a point-by and are not comfortable with the situation. This kind of passing environment requires drivers to work together if they want to have a pleasant track experience. Lap times will be provide to anyone who has a working transponder in their car. If they run in the "official" timed session(s) for the event they will be included in the time trial results. This assumes that they have a working transponder in their car. Cars without transponders will be considered "run for fun" entries.

Experienced: This group is for people with 20-plus track days and who are very comfortable on the track with others. Passing is allowed anywhere on the track. Point-by's, although appreciated, are not required. However, this is not a race and aggressive passing will not be tolerated. This kind of passing environment requires drivers to work together if they want to have a pleasant track experience. Lap times will be provide to anyone who has a working transponder in their car.
