August Meet- winery alternative - DRIVING TOUR

So how about another joint meet for August between the Bay Area & Sacramento groups? Napa would be ideal - great touring country after a morning connection in Napa itself. We could do a loop up the Silverado trail then over Pertified Forest Rd at Calistoga and down through Sonoma. We could pick a nice winery along the way for lunch - maybe Sterling (just N or Calistoga) which has great hilltop location with a cable gondola up to the winery itself?

The last (official) Napa tour was a blast. But it took a bit of organizing with a few wineries and one upscale luch restaurant (Mustards, as I recall). I'd be willing to help with some of the details if some others might join in too.

Hey that sounds like fun and I might be able to get the wife to go on that one.....
The only concern is that traffic on the weekends is pretty dense on those routes, but yeah let's do it.

The August meet is two weeks away. If we do this, planning needs to get going. Let me know if I can help. My car might not be ready for the road yet (that darn CTSC takes a long time to tune - ha ha, just kidding - I'm still waiting for the paintwork to get finished up), so I might have to ride with someone.

Shane, what's the plan for August?

Napa tour it is!

I've been talking to Ken S. about the idea. Bay Area chapter can meet up at Ikea around 10am, like last time, and we can meet up with the Sac Chapter somewhere along HW 80.

Please pre-map the routes for the trip, so we can all be clear where we are going. Also Ken C., can you list the wineries we can visit along the way and maybe PM me the restaurant info so we can make reservation?

Shane, I'll do a little homework today and see if I can secure a couple of guided tours and maybe a lunch spot with secured parking.

I'll get back to you.

ill be in NAPA on august 26,27,28 for an ACURA event. Maybe you guys can plan event around my arrival and I can be the guest of honor

Mike - Extreme caution, warning - Seriously reconsider your trip to Napa - you may find you love it in CA and then will be forced to move here and work at an Acura dealership in the Bay Area.

Believe me we would love to have you here. But then you would have to be driving your NSX practically all year.....what the heck am I thinking?

i go to L.A alot and would love the California move; but my job is to good to leave and my parents are still here in NJ. Florida is more of a reality in a couple of years

OK I totally get the parent thing. I am the same way. Culd never leave the State or the immediate area so long as my dad and my wife's parents are with us. But I would love to leave CA after that and move somewhere were traffic's normal state is not congestion.

OK - since the winery tour seems to be closed out to limited numbers, let me see if there is interest in doing more of a driving tour.

Here is one suggestion - I would welcome others to make suggestions.
I propose we go out & up Knoxville rd N along side Lake Berryessa to Lower Lake
Maybe we can lunch in Lower Lake, or on the route down 29 through Middletown to Calistoga. Any suggestions are again welcome - we can do something fancy or just a plain old hamburger stop.
Time allowing & per interest, we can go over Petrified Forest Road and down into Sonoma.

Here's another alternative - the Pashnit site has great recommendations so browse around on that

Let's start a list for intersted parties (final routing still open, just declared interest in a drive day plan for now)

So is this the new wine tour turned into valley drive? I would like to join this drive but I have been trying to finish installing my stereo but haven't had much time to work on it plus I am going to the races in San Jose next weekend.
I will give you a firm answer by the 1st.

The wine tour is still active - this is an alternative for those who didn't make the limited list.
This will not be closed or require a sign-up - I'm just gauging interest to know that there will be at least a few who want to do this. So if we say it's a go, no commitment necessary, merely appreciated - otherwise just meet at the (TBD) rendevous point at prescribed time.

Well, now that my trunk will stay nice and cool, thanks to D'Ecosse's expertise in installing some really cool heat barrier/insullation from SpeedZone24-7.com, (4 pieces of 13575 Heat barrier adhesive backed 12"x24", 1 16500 Muffler/catalytic Converter Heat Shield Kit, total of parts $123.51 delivered, 440.546.0770) I will be able to go and buy some wine to put in our trunk while on the cruise.

And then lock my car with the brand new factory Acura Keyless Remote, again, thanks to Ken's expertise. I swear, Ken must have removed 60 feet of wire/rat's nest from the aftermarket POS in the car. Oh and the new remote comes with an effeminate (can I say that here? Or better yet, can I even spell it?) little leather/vinyl protector, kind of like a bra for the remote. How cool is that?

The best part is, and for me this is big, when I lock the car now, the little red indicator light flashes next to the door lock pull thing, (what the heck is that called?). Thank you Ken. Now we can go on this drive and not feel overheated and unsecured. Michael

Lisa and I are in, though, we each might need rides from others (I'll work that out later). Yes, my NSX is still getting finished up. They say it will be done this week. Waiting on a few small parts.
