Ignore it. Don't play with the guy, or try or alert the "authorities". Nobody cares and it will only waste you time. Ask me how I know.

It reminds me of this quote:

"Never attempt to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and annoys the pig."

Robert A. Heinlein

You can relist the item, but you will not get your listing fees back, and you will need to send him two payment notices and wait 3 weeks to get your FVF credit.

Perhaps give ebay a call and see if they can speed things up, given he's a pretty obvious scammer.

Report it to ebay fraud and they'll credit you your auction costs.

Thanks guys and Wingz:) I was charged a final listing fee of $17.95. I contacted ebay and will await their response. Do you think I can relist it asap? Or do I need to wait until ebay takes action? I really dont want to wait as ebay may take their sweet time.

There is no reason that Ebay should not be able to restrict IP addresses from Nigeria. I would bet that 99.9% of all Nigerian bids are fraud.

A little off topic, but on. We have had a numerous amounts of Nigerians come in to the dealership with FAKE bank drafts, and asking us to ship high end vehicles to Nigeria. We call the bank and the RCMP (Similar to the US FBI) .Now there trying to use international Visa's to put down deposits then try to get the money back in cash....be weary.....but remember there a sucker born every minute.....

Somebody tried to scam me also on ebay, and I re-listed right away..I sent in the scam email and later Ebay credited back my account the fees.

That's great to know. I just relisted it and it was sold to another buyer. Thanks for all the info guys!

Could someone give me a quick tutorial on E-Bay scams, shill bidding, seller rating cons etc....I have purchased a few things I've found on E-Bay but always delt seller direct outside the bidding process. From all I hear about frauds on-line, how can one be sure of a solid deal?

Thanks!

When you list something on Ebay..the last page of the listing you can choose certain criteria you want the buyer to meet before they can even bid on it.

Buyer Requirements:
Put a check in all of them..

Block buyers who:
Are registered in countries to which I don't ship
Have a feedback score of -1 or lower
Have received 2 Unpaid Item strikes in the last 30 days
Are currently winning or have bought 10 of your items in the last 10 days and have a feedback score of 0 or lower
Don't have a PayPal account

Also don't do business outside of the Ebay/Paypal payment process.

No problem..I forgot that my account already has this setup. For yours you just go into "My Ebay" click on the left menu under "My Account" you will see "Preferences" ..click on that. Now scroll down to "Selling Preferences">"Buyer Requirements" click show on the right side of screen and edit them.. Sorry for the confusion..now everytime you list something it will show these options at the last page and should have a check in each one..
