I'm a long time Ferrari lover looking through the paper to buy an NSX. (I like to drive not repair) When I saw this...

Testerossa 1991, tubi exhaust 3,000 miles.

So I think to myself... well this guy just wasn't meant to own an exotic... must be getting out of the lifestyle.

Wrong! Add goes on to say - must sell buying a Lamborghini.. . I just hope he doesn't run the Lambo into the ground like he did his Ferrari.

Long live the NSX, and cheers to NSXPrime very helpful place to learn all I want to know.

I'm a Ferrari fanatic as well...but I have to say: the NSX is on par with the machines from Maranello and will run just as steady as an Accord.

Good choice. Although I'm a glutton for punishment, so there will be TWO wonderful machines occupying space in my garage one day. Only one of them will definitely be a daily driver...and I don't have to tell you which.

There is an article on my site by a one time Ferrari owner who talks about making the switch.

Thanks for the link. Nice to hear from others that have come to the same decision.

It seems if I'm going to buy a Ferrari, I would have to save up to buy a truck to cart it around with first. Do you know any trucks that are fun to drive across country.

Kind of takes the fun out of owning a sports car? Becoming a truck driver.

I am still crazy about the looks of the 328 but my friends in Michigan tell me they can't get in to see a mechanic.

"when a 550 or 360 shows up, your 328 some how gets left in the back-lot waiting for months sometimes."

So with only 8 good months of summer driving in Michigan, its NSX shopping for me. I just don't know if I want the NSX-T or coupe.

All four are daily drivers used to commute to work.

They are in the distinct minority among Ferraris. The Ferraris that are driven more than 2,000 miles per year are only a small minority.

One source to check out a lot of listings of used Ferraris is http://www.ferrarimarketletter.com/ Look there or elsewhere and you will see how few are driven more than 2K miles per year.

Whether that is because of concerns over declining market value, or reliability, or expense of upkeep, or some other reason, is open to speculation...

I had heard from the Ferrarista that garage-queen Ferraris are the ones that have all of the mechanical problems. Ferraris are meant to be driven, and if they sit around they become more problematic when they do get driven. If you drive it everyday it runs smooth.

'Course, this is all second-hand info, as I've never personally owned a Ferrari.

Don't get me wrong...I strongly belive that certain models in Ferraris line up are definitley daily drivers. Although I would only leave that to the newer models starting with the F355. They are still realatively expensive to maintain, but like you guys said...they suffer as much from mis-use as abuse. When they just sit they develop leaks in the seal and such. Doug is the exact polar point to the garage queens. He thrashes it hard.

I'm not sure I would drive mine everyday as I spout off about doing, due the fact that I would be parking it for 8 hours a day minus lunch in a lot filled with those who might not appreciate it as much as I. I definitley want to avoid big freking dings in the doors and such. But driving it rain or shine is definitely in my plans.

As For value...as with the NSX when I get one it's for driving and for keeps. Granted I might trade it in one day for a new one...I don't care what kind of monetary return value I get from the car other than the pure joy I extract from getting behind the wheel.

There is also some other Ferrari stuff on my site as well...BTW

Enjoying all the Ferrari stories. Does anyone know of a Ferrari post, or Ferrari board like our NSX message forums?

I checked out the Viper one and those guys are Hard-core. Huge forums.

The best Ferrari resource on the net is the Ferrari mailing list. http://www.ferrarilist.com/thelist.html

There are occasional flame wars and lots of off topic messages, but there are also a lot of very knowledgeable folks.
