I am interested in doing the most I can to reach 300 rwhp, keeping in mind NA is the way I want to go right now. I want suggestions on the following. I tried using the faq section, but it is a little outdated. I tried using the search but that was not definitive enough. So, if you can give me your input on the following in the following format I would appreciate it.

1. Side scoop/foam filter...(downforce/uni-filter)...(6.9 hp)...115+48= $163 from Downforce.biz
2. Headers...(best brand)...(most possible gains)...(weight reduction)...(price)
3. Exhaust...(best brand)...(most possible gains)...(weight reduction)...(price)
4. Chip...(best brand)...(most possible gains)...(price)
5. Tuned intake maifold...(possible gains when matched with items above)...$295 from SOS
6. Big bore throttle...(possible gains when matched with items above)...$259 from SOS
7. NOS...(best brand)...(wet or dry)...(most possible gains while retaining reliability)...(price)

Thanks

2. Comptech or Taitec
3. Too many to list, most make good hp gains, mostly depend on personal preference, ARC Taitanium is by far the lightest weight saving of 30+lbs.

This member has similar mods from 1~6:

Nitrous alone should get you 300rwhp, however nitrous is definitely no NA mod, you might as well consider CTSC, quickest way to add additional 60~100+rwhp, better bang for you buck.

1~6 combined unfortunately will not get you 300rwhp, if you are NA1 and with a baseline of 235~240rwhp, it will be close to 300rwhp.

Here are results of NSXs with various mods:

If you want 300hp nos is the easy way,if you are a purist and still want 300 you'll need all of your IHE options plus an IEM package whether it be SOS or Comptech. At that you might only get to 290 or so.The above is on a 3.0 liter,I'm not sure if there is a IEM package for the 3.2 liter, good luck.

1. I could be mistaken, but I have yet to see any dyno of the Downforce AIS. So if you're looking for Proven power, the Cantrell AIS may be the way to go and it really isn't much more to get a product from someone who supports the NSX community. If you are getting the Downforce one they are raising the price apparently at the end of the month so you'd have to adjust pricing unless you get it prior. I was there for the Cantrell AIS dyno and the results were very impressive with the UNI filter.

2. We just installed the new ScienceofSpeed headers and are VERY happy with them, including the hp gain. These equal length headers improved the sound quality too and are priced very competitively. I would certainly recommend them.

3. As previously mentioned, there are so many choices here. Mostly it will come down to your preference for your favorite sound among the lightest of the exhausts, since weight seems to be an important factor for you. Obviously the Taitec GT Lightweight has been very popular and there are dynos of significant gains with that particular exhaust.

Realistically as the other respondants have mentioned, you probably won't get 300rwhp with the NA mods you listed (not including NOS). If NA is the way you want to stay, you should contact Chris@SOS and with his experience he can provide you with support/products to try and help you achieve your goals. Of course his Stage 3 would certainly make you happy, but may not be within targeted price range.

I did not realize that there were sizable baseline differences (5~8 hp). But, after searching through the PDF's, I think I should dyno first, and see what I have right now, considering that no two nsx's are 100% alike.

No two nsx's are exactly alike as they are all hand made and hand assembled. That is reason why nsxs dynoing on the sameday on the same dyno with same mods or no mods still put down different #s.

C&D tested a 98 silver car that did 12.9 @ 110.

So, 300 rwhp is not impossible. It's just a matter of being lucky enough to have a factory freak to begin with. Until I dyno, I won't know. However, I do know that I ran a 13.5 @105 in the quarter a couple of weeks ago.

Have the print out from a few yrs ago, all stock with RSR exhaust was 240.7 & 185.9
Headers,Tubi & intake added later may add a bit, but have not ran it on a dyno.

Funny story, the prev owner took it in for a SC and the shop owner
wanted to do a leak down test 1st. Said results were unsat and a SC
should not be installed.

Prev owner called Mark Basch for his opinion. He said dyno the car as leak down testing can be somewhat tricky. Thats where the dyno sheet came from. I guess it proved the engine is healthy. Does not smoke or burn oil?
And from reading the results from others here 240 stock is about right
for a stock 3.0. The car has logged about 20k miles since the "leak down"
test and runs strong. Just thought I would share this as I found it interesting.
