Don't they have them at Costco? I thought I saw some there last week.

Any problems down the road and they just take it back with exchange or full refund.

I've seen them at Costco. You have to try to get there when the shipment hits the sales floor. They move quickly. If there are none on the floor, go to the supervisors area and and ask a manager when the next shipment is coming in.

I bought mine 3mths ago at a Toys R Us during a time when no Best Buy, or Circuit City within a 45mi radius of me had it. The Toys R Us 3 miles from my house had it. Strange...but I got it!

thx for the feedback. our local costco never seems to have them, but i didn't think of asking a supervisor, etc - i'm on it. i'll give toysrus a call, as well.

i called the local gamestop, they said no waiting list but they expect wii's on mon / tues and to be there @ opening to have best chance of picking one up. i'm not really interested in running around / showing up and hoping for the best, though that may be the best way of getting one.

keep 'em coming, i'm listening :)

buahahahahahaha

i just called the local toysrus and the very helpful employee told me they had some coming in on sunday and to be in line between 5 & 6am to have a shot @ getting one.

buahahahahahaha

looks like pop's may be getting a new field & stream subscription instead of a wii.

Get him the Wii, you won't regret it. I love mine and play the crap out of it all the time. My mothers boyfriend is 84 and he plays with us. Man the Wii is a lot of fun!!!!

Buddy was over here the other night and he got 12 strikes in a row while bowling.

The Trama "second opinion" is also a blast to play.

I just recently saw 10-15 Wii's at a local Fry's electronics.

ryan,

which fry's was this? i just called campbell / hamilton store and they're out - "none scheduled to come in for 2-3 weeks."

steve, saw your note and thx for the nudge... i'll keep trolling and maybe find one along the way. pop lives up in oregon and with winter coming on, cabin fever's not far behind - coupla games each day might brighten him up.

thx for the feedback, guys, more recommendations appreciated.

Perfect. Buy one on ebay and have it shipped to him.

Hal,

Not sure if this is true any longer...I got my son his last year when they first came out. Target used to get shipments every Wednesday, and they would hold them until the following Sunday to sell them. I went to my local Target about 45 minutes prior to opening, and was lucky enough to get one.

Good luck,
Clayton

Buy the costco package. It somes with 2 games and 2 remotes. Save you like $50 if you were to buy it all separate.

thx for the feedback, all.

when i asked the costco guy if they had any wii's he literally laughed outloud and said, "no, we got our last shipment a couple of weeks ago and don't have a clue when the next shipment comes in." alrighty then...

there may be a shipment coming in today at a local target, so i've re-arranged an appt to be available for their opening.

thx again for the feedback.

Good catch. Glad you were able to grab one. I saw the ad this morning, and thought of this thread.

I waited in line all night last year before Christmas at a Target with my girlfriend and her son. There was a lottery and we ended up being able to buy one. There were almost several fights that night as people in the rear of the line realized that they would'nt be able to buy one ( store only had eighteen units, and the line had over a hundred people ) Store security and local police escorted those of us with the tickets into the store, to the sales counter and then back out to our cars after purchase. It was a pretty good score! we love the game, and ended up getting four sets of controllers. My Dad ( 75 ) loves the bowling and the golf. He bowled in a league a long time ago, and thinks the Wii is pretty realistic. Tennis is good, baseball is fun and the boxing is a blast - you will get a workout. I think every nursing home in the country should get several of these units so the folks there could get some excersize.

i've seen a number of articles / tv clips about nursing home residents having tournaments - local, regional and finally, national. with winter coming up and pop living alone (in oregon), i'm betting he'll use this and have a good time.

i just returned a few minutes ago from buying the second unit (they had ~5 left) @ the bundle price for our company to use - if google has their work-toys, we can too.

thx for the post.

steve,

my wife, neighbors and i have been enjoying our new wii. i'm taking pop's to him next week and am sure he'll have a great time, too.

good recommendation, thanks.

What games did you get and which ones are you playing the most?

steve,

we got whatever comes with the stock wii (golf, tennis, bowling, ping pong - i think) and have been using the bowling and tennis games only. (we're not big into video games, but given all the reviews of the wii + winter coming up, i thought it would be ok to get one.)

for another $10, i also got a pack that included another "wand controller" or whatever they're called + a pack of games that my dad will probably like - basic target practice and a few others.

given our non-interest in video games, we've been pleased at how fun / lifelike these are.

i got my from Wally World. I hate the place but it was a gift for the wife.
The sports game that came with the system is pretty fun. The boxing part can give you a real workout.

I'm hoping to find two at Mega-Lo-Mart (Wal-Mart) too. My Mother-in-Law wants one and now my wife wants one two. Got there last week just as the last two were sold. Guess I'll try again this weekend.

Well, bought two Wii's at my local Target last weekend. Went in early Sunday and since it was raining overnight, people were still cozy in their beds. They had about 10 of them available. I bought two along with the Wii Play for each. One for my mother-in-law and one for us. Though I've never been a "gamer", I've been playing it all week and it's a blast.

what a hoot, huh?

i sent my father's to him early last week, he got it / set it up on friday and bowled for a number of hours over the weekend. @ 82+, retired blue collar tradesman, a stroke survivor, darn near deaf as a stump and a "grapes of wrath" okie, he was a little cranky about it at first.

but then he got into it and i can hear in his voice that he's having fun with it... next to the "presto printer" we bought him earlier this year, it's easily the best thing i've been able to do for him in years. (except visit, of course).

party on, wayne....
