Best small, lightweight wheel options in 2019? Everything is going bigger!

Hi Guys,

I've always been a big fan of small, lightweight wheels, and I also don't like over-tiring my street cars. I've been trying to find good aftermarket options for my newly acquired '91 NSX, but it seems that there aren't that many options today since the market has moved towards bigger and bigger wheels. Does anybody have any suggestions for aftermarket 15/16 or 16/17 setups that would run similar to stock size tires? The lightest, smallest setups I've seen recently seem to be SSR Type C 17/17. OEM specs below for quick reference. Many thanks for any and all input!

Lug Nut Torque Spec (all years) 110 N.m (80 lb-ft)
Offset (1991 - 2001) 55 mm front, 60 mm rear
Offset (2002 - 2005) 55 mm front, 56 mm rear
Center bore (all years) 70(.1) mm front, 64(.1) mm rear
Bolt pattern (all years) 5-bolt pattern, 114.3 mm bolt circle
Lug nuts (all years) 19 mm with 12 mm x 1.50 thread pitch

Thank you for the reference. Sorry no one replied. What wheels did you end up going with?

I mean...RPF1 is god tier light weight, especially for the price. Not everyone's cup of tea in the looks department but they go down to a 14" and are readily available.

16x7 +43 is 13.7lb $266
17x8 +45 is 15.6lb $292

They don't make a 15" in 5 bolt pattern, and you would likely need to run spacers for the offset difference on a 16/17 combo, probably a 10mm front 15mm rear at a minimum. I'm running a 15/25 on my fat fives and love the look and feel.

Lots of options in the 16/17 range from a 16x7-8 to a 17x7-10 (with half sizes).

I saw that Japan Racing JR-3 are available in 15x7 ET35 and 16x8 ET25. A nice budget option. But never tested.
There are also options in 15/16 with JR-11.
