Sorority House Maintainence Man...

I stopped off at my favorite bar for a drink. I knew the owner of the bar because I was renting a room from him for the summer. He asked if I knew how to paint, and I told him I did (I didn't). He offered me work painting some of his rental properties. I worked for him for about a week, then we made a new deal. His tenants were primarily female, and often they would call him to fix the stupidest things (toilet running, sink is clogged, spiders in the bathroom...)
John gave me a pager, then he gave all the tenants the number to the pager. When they needed help they called.
My end of the deal? Free rent for the summer. I also continued helping out with maintainence on the properties, and occasionally I tended bar. Sometimes he paid me in cash, other times he gave me "credit" on a bar tab.

I have to tell you- at 21 I never really complained when a bunch of drunken sorority girls called me @ 2:00am because their pilot light went out. You meet a lot of girls that way.

My best job was sweeping floors in a pawn shop. I was 14/15 years old and the pawn shop belonged to a friend of my dad. He was an ex-cop who knew all kinds of shady characters and it was just too cool for words. I got to play with everything from power tools to guns, the restroom had a stock of nudie mags, I got to meet all sorts of gangsters and assorted low-lifes, I heard hundreds of stories of sin and debauchery. In short, it was the kind of job I couldn't tell my mom about and it was all kinds of fun.

As I recall, it paid 50 cents an hour, cash. The money I made there plus the money I made washing dishes in a restaurant is where I got $400 for my first car (a '65 Mustang in 1972). It's never been that good since. :)

Best summer job wasn't so much a job as a few of them. I was working as an intern with Jacques Thelemaque (President of Filmmakers Alliance, MVP of Sundance 2004), and had all kinds of shoots over the summer. Everything from a 6 million dollar feature to a pilot for "Polk Valley", a comedy with Melissa McCarthy from the Gilmore Girls that didn't get picked up. Great fun. :)

My "best summer job" was only 5 years ago when I was 14. The job itself sucked (worked in the filing room for my dad's office) but the result was awesome. Instead of my dad paying me in cash, For 2.5 months I worked 30 hours a week to get 2 turntables, a mixer, and about 10 records. Looking back now I know my dad got the better end of the deal, but those turntables meant everything to me...until I sold my entire system to get an exhaust and wheels for my nsx =)

Unfortunately it wasn't me but a friend of mine got a job a couple of summers ago as a co-pilot for the Girls gone wild jet!

The producers of the show would take the pilots to all the shoots and I heard that a lot of the girls would want to go to the jet for an after party!

DJ of a local club... hands down, I got paid crap but the fringe benefits were freakin awesome!

and you didn't have to buy the drinks, either.

you da man :)

I worked at the pepsi bottling plant with a bunch of other college guys. In 1985, I was making $14/hour. In about 8 weeks with alot of overtime I made 7,000. Most of us bought cars with the money we made. I never made so much money in such a short time when I was in college.

my best friend used to run this company:
www.selectent.com

i drove the girls for him a few times and used to host their website.... very shady, all of them were psycho, but it was a lot of fun and the owner of the business who lived in vegas would really hook everyone up during "Adult-dex". I was always out for comdex for my real job, and "adult-dex" was always held as the same time.

i robbed trains for a summer as well.... some tourist trap up in maine where i played a train robber complete with black powder revolvers.
