Body kit question

Hey guys,

I recently had a new front lip, side skirts and rear valence painted and installed. The kit looks a little bit orangish in certain light vs the rest of the car. The body shop says that the color is the same but painted onto plastic pieces comes out slightly different initially and will get darker overtime. Does any one have experience or know if this is correct? Thanks in advance for the help.

No way, not that much different. Take it back to do it over. He should get a better paint match. Even Earl Scheib paint would do a better match. I've seen plenty of body kits painted. Let us know what happens.

Here we go again! Another bodyman trying to get over one more time. I would be there before he opens the shop later and sit there, watch him order the paint, paint them over before he does any other work! He will tell you come next week, then turns to months, then you get complacent and say the hell with it while he's "Dooking" someone else.

First of all i'm not a paint expert, but I do know plastic has very different property's certain imola orange nsx's have that issue form the factory on the rear bumper i've seen it before.

not sure why it would darken overtime though it usually will pale out gradually as UV rays hits it. (take a look at a old red car)

the original R-77 formula red has a blue tinted clear coat. This is how it takes the base orangeish red and turns it into a darker deeper red.

you need to have that redone.

That's a HUGE difference in color...definitely go back and have them re-paint it. They should do a paint test first before painting all of your pieces and throwing them onto your car. Do not accept the car the way it is...it's your hard earned money

Are you 100% sure the care hasn't been painted? that is a huge difference. I would at least get a second opinion on teh kit paint job before taking it back to the original body shop.

Here is the final result after 3 months and a few more trials to get the match perfect. Thanks to Matthew Carlsen for being patient and standing by their work. Will try to take some better pics later.
