Budgeting for a NSX NA1 (91-93) in Toronto

For a while I have been contemplating on which car to get next. It always comes down to the debate between an S2000 and of course, the NSX.

In the current economic climate that we are experiencing, I've noticed the prices of cars in general have dropped, and used S2000's are becoming very tempting. That said, I genuinely like the NSX more though. I am considering an 05 S2000 (06 and up they changed it to "drive by wire" and I don't like this, I prefer my throttle pulling on the good old mechanical cable). And they can be had for relatively cheap

Which leads me to my main point, seeing this is the Canadian section, I am wondering what are the "realistic" prices of the NSX? NA1 in mind, 91-93 model years. I am pretty much after a stock NA1, 5 speed and mileage under 100,000 kms.

Any input will be greatly appreciated

There are a lot of factors that determine the price of any car, but with the NSX the main one's are maintenance, being accident free and overall condition.

That being said, I would say anyway from $37 - $45K

+1, leave yourself an extra buffer of 5-10K for maintenance and upgrades.

Just remember that the Canadian dollar sucks and prices in Canadian are going to be around $31,000 and up for a nice car...patience is something that all of us NSX owners understand and had when we searched for our cars. Mine took me 3 years...and it was sooooo worth it...a true gem and exactly what I had always dreamed for...the beauty is in the search...so enjoy hunting for your machine.

Dam

I should also add that its really important to stay focussed! There are many tempting alternatives out there, and lets face it..on paper the nsx looks mediocre compared to say a Viper or Supra but where it excels is in the intangibles: handling, looks, build quality, exclusivity, aftermarket support, and of course my favourite: friends. The NSX has an amazing ability to attract great car people which to me adds a lot to the ownership experience.

This is how I feel about the NSX. To me, the NSX is on a whole 'nother level. It is the "OG" Supercar of the Japanese, and a car which can still hold its own till this day. I've seen countless people stand and admire a parked NSX (myself included) even though it is many years old.

I guess I will take my time to look for the right one like many have suggested, all the while I can keep adding to the NSX fund and search at the same time.

Exactly. I hear people bash on the NSX compared to a C6 Vette. Dude, the very fact you're comparing my nsx to your 2008 C6 tells me a lot about my own car!

Bolt on a supercharger and you're good to go.

I'm sold. Starting my NSX fund asap!

looks like i'll be taking my sweet time to find this NA1!

on the upside, i've decided to pursue it in either white or black

A friend of mine is making her husband sell his '92 GPW. Shoot me a PM. I will hook you up.

He needs a marriage contract now. What's next? Make him sell his hands & feet? I can't stand chicks that pull that stuff. ;)

Hey isn't this car in KW area? It was up for sale last year in the Autotrader I believe. My brother also knows the guy... very clean car I got a nice look at it last summer I love white.... I love it so much I bought the total opposite... LOL

I think i have seen that car too. Its an American car right? He had it posted on Kijiji a while back. His pics weren't all that good but it looked clean. If i recall his price was alittle high though. I think white is beautiful and would have considered buying it if it wasn't so expensive.

Yes, it is American.

The asking price is reasonable now. PM me if you are still interested.

He loves his wife more than his car.

I can relate to that statement, and am relieved to hear it. There are guys out there that fear their wives more than they love their cars, and 9/10 that's why they sell them.

Me - before I got married, I told Becky "I love you with all my heart, and you need to know about my biggest flaw. I'll always have a cool car. Don't F with that, and we'll be happy forever." :)

My wife has always known I am obsessed with cars. Its a part of me like my pinky finger. Never an issue about me buying and keeping a hi-po car in the garage.

I think my wife only let me get my car because I wouldn't STFU about it. I don't think it worked cuz now I'm even more obsessed than I was before.
