i am embarassed to say i cannot find my 2 pin blue service connector. the writeup on this site ( i cant find the link, i have it saved at my computer at home ) shows it being in the middle under the glove box, but it also says i might need to remove a cover to get to it? when i pull back my carpet i do not see a subwoofer or speaker, i see a big metal plate. do i need to unbolt this plate?

Assuming you have an OBD1 car:

You should not have to take out the metal plate. That just covers the subwoofer. You may need to take out the plastic cover directly underneath the glove box depending on how burried you service connector is. My connector was tucked underneath the carpet in the far right corner closest to the passenger door.

If you have an OBD2 car:

It is in clear view underneath the dash on the leading edge (16 pin connector).

thanks for the response. its an obd1 car. i see what you mean about the plastic grill under the lovebox. and i did find a 2 pin connector in the corner close to the passenger side door, but its GREY. i dont want to go randomly jumping any 2 pin connector i find :/

You are in the right spot, but the grey one is not the one. Move slightly towards the center of the car to find the blue one. Also on the aluminum plate covering the subwoofer there is a receptacle that is blue and holds the blue connector. If that is empty, someone removed it, then is it probably stuffed behind the top of the plate:).
