Does your battery smell like rotten eggs, if not its fine.
14.5 - 15 is ok.
it does look high on the gauge.
if you are worried about the alternator, i would uninstall it and get it tested.
autozone can run the test for you free of charge as long as you bring in the alternator.
they will be able to tell you if there is a problem with the voltage regulator inside the alternator.
if the voltage regulator is bad, you can have the option of replacing that piece or getting a new alternator. if you choose to replace that piece, and do all the labor yourself, you will be saving about 200$ off a rebuilt alternator.

You can double check the voltage with a VOM.
I would not even try to get to the battery, jump start lug in the engine bay and any good ground. :smile:

It's very unlikelly you have an overcharging problem if you did the meter in the dash would be pinned. You should see about 13.8 to 14.2
