Carbon Fiber Alternator Belt Cover?

Not that I know of. I personally would not make one either because Carbon Fiber happens to be a very good conductor of Electricity. I've heard of issues with overseas companies making carbon fiber spark plug covers and had problems from the electrical charges affects all the wires. What happened was that in an inline 4 engine, when the #1 sparkplug fire, it would leak some current into #2,#3,#4. This caused the engine to misfire and wobble. This is very bad. So if you have a carbon fiber cover over the alternator, it might conduct the electricity and cause a short to the body ground.

Not doubting your information but why are they able to make and sell CF coil covers?

Well the injector covers are fine because there is not a lot of voltage. Pretty much you will just want to stay away from high current electrical components and wires. This is the reason why I never made a battery box or holder for the NSX even though I wanted one. I just don't believe it would work as a good product.

These injector covers are fine and safe to use.

What would be bad is the spark plug covers if anyone made them. I would stay away from any sort of alternator cover made by composites as well.

What Steve is talking about is a little guard over the alternator belt not an alternator cover. IMHO the only concern I would have with an alternator cover would be a cooling issue the alternator only runs at battery voltage and is encased in a metal frame so there are no electrical issues to be concerned about relating to the conductivity of carbon fiber.

This is the Procar alternator belt cover
