Carbon Fiber Guitar

So I have been wanting to start using Carbon Fiber to fabricate/skin car parts, however I had little experience in cf but a crap load in fiberglass. So I decided to practice on items I had around the house.

I started off with my Kramer Focus 6000 that I intended on re-painting anyway. I think it turned out pretty damn good! I did a texture on the back and sides to avoid the hours of block sanding it took to get the front as smooth as I could.

Since this I have also done a pair of Oakley Flak jackets. I used the vacuum technique on these which was much different but a similar result.

Time to start working on some NSX parts......but what to start with?!

Man, that's pretty cool. Does it effect the sound at all? I know that certain instruments or if you wrap an item it changes the frequency of the vibration throughout the instrument. Not sure if that applies to electric instruments though.

I haven't noticed any sound change when I play it without the amp.... which isn't very often. I also swapped out the pickups to all new Seymour Duncan's so I'm sure that had a LOT to do with the sound change!:biggrin:

Sorry to bring up an old thread. But that guitar looks sick man!!! How did you do that? Any step by step guide? I was just thinking of doing that to my JS24P but maybe I will try it out first on my JEM Jnr (nope not the 555 but the 333
