carfax

why not? i have run other manufacturers for people here when i had a subscription. I understand that this isnt what this forum is for just lookin for a little favor or are you too up tight?

It's because CarFax watches our forum and now if anybody runs that VIN that you posted, CarFax will cancel their account. CarFax have become real jerks about it lately. Next time, just post that you need a CarFax run and then PM the VIN to anyone who offers.

I would probably edit your first post and delete the VIN asap.

Here's the scenario only using a different situation. You want to get into the city and decide to take the subway. You go to the station but instead of putting your token in the turnstile you decide to jump it. Your reasoning for not paying is that the train is already going to my destination so I don't have to pay. Asking someone to get you a Carfax report is the same thing. It's stealing a service which is only available by paying for it up front. Just like taking the subway.

I normally would edit my post and remove the VIN, but in this case I'm too uptight.

Docl....So why do carfax sell unlimited subscriptions? Why do they sell subscriptions to car dealers? I just thought that i would ask a favor from someone here that has a UNLIMITED suscription as i, at one time was a fairly active member, needed a favor. Now i know why i stopped participating here trying to help people out with free advice as i am a honda tech. By the way, i waited to get one from my dealership where we have a subscription. Thanks for nothing.

So you as an individual can run as many Carfax reports as you want without having to beg, borrow, or steal them. It does not mean you can share them with the public on message boards as per the individual contractual agreement.

Why do they sell subscriptions to car dealers?

Car dealers also like to check the background of the vehicles that they buy. They also pay a higher fee than the public and they can put them up for the public to view per the dealer contractual agreement.

Thanks for nothing.

You are welcome.

Carfax is a sore subject around here. It's cheap enough to just pony up the $20 and get a months subscription. Besides, you don't get the buy back guarantee if you don't pay for the subscription.

BTW, Why would a honda tech want his son to buy a Hyundai?

Meh. If the kid wants a Tiburon, more power to him. Never hurts for em to learn on their own. You can only tell them so much. Getting them to actually listen and follow...diff story all together.
