Sigh Ok I was driving along the freeway going from the 105 East to the 110 North on the ramp and coming out of the corner (I was going about 65 or so) the Check Engine Light and TSC lights both came on ... both orange. I pulled over and checked everything - turned the car off ... let it sit... turned it back on same thing...

Also I noticed that the oil pressure was fluctuating quite a bit..... from 2 to 6 (not sure what the units are just going by the numbers on the gauge) is this normal? I didn't see this happen at all on the drive back to LA...

When its idling it sits at 2... and when under load it sits around 5-6... is that what I should expect?

Also is there anything I could do short of taking the car to the dealer to see what the CEL / TSC light means? The car acts fine - no odd symptoms or anything... :( I checked the oil and that seems fine.. no leaks anywhere. Temperatures are also fine.... what gives? Thanks for your help!!!!!

Anyone know what the problem is here? I'm at a loss :(

The main relay has been replaced recently...

It looks like TSC is not even working... I tested it on my way to work this morning... no TSC... could this be a serious problem?

Well, you can pull the codes with an OBDII reader.

But it sounds like a "stupid problem", just gotta track down the gremlin.

The next thing is that I've had a similar symptom with bad speed sensor, the TCS and Check Engine (MIL/CEL) would throw a code when it hiccuped.

Yea its strange that it happened when I exited a corner hard... if there was any wheel spin I would imaging the TSC light to blink at me saying it had to kick in...

I just got new tires so maybe that would make TSC complain? Should disconnecting the battery reset it somehow?

Should I disconnect the battery and let it sit for a few minutes to reset the computer? Would that help?

Ok disconnecting the battery did nothing at all.... arrg..... I guess I'll have to take it in and have it fixed.

Anyone have some recommendations for Acura service centers in the South Bay / LA area? Thx

I had the same problem as you after some "spirited" driving, TCS flashing a lot and finally CEL and TCS lights stayed on, I think that it is due to the 19" wheels that I have when the computer is calculating for smaller rim sizes? are you stock or ?? anyway, I removed the battery for 5 minutes, put it back on again and everything is fine.

Yea the wheels I have on mine are the 17"/17" 2002 style rims with 215/40/17 in the front and 255/40/17 in the back... I dont think that should mess with the TSC at all.. :frown:

Check the codes (procedure in FAQ section of DSL Prime). Mine just did the same thing yesterday as far as CEL and TSC lights. I have no issue with the oil pressure. I checked the code per the FAQ, and its was code -- 42, Rear Primary Oxygen Sensor heater malfunction. I then checked the sensor per the manual, and yup, the heater element is open circuit (instead of 10 - 40 Ohms).

If you do a search in the DIY forum, you'll see this is a common failure on the front or rear primary sensors. Its also proably a key reason the EPA made Honda double the emissions warranty to 14 years on '95 & '96's (and possibly other years).

PS - to check the codes yourself is simple - all it takes is a paper clip and your ignition key: no other tools neeeded. And, the FAQ even contains the error code list. The hardest part is finding the "bright blue connector" to apply the short with the paper clip.
