Hi. I bought a CHA-S634 CD changer (used) off of ebay. I also bought the necessary cables from LogJam Electronics.

P.I.E ACU/HON 1992-1998 adapter

I installed the changer and flipped the dip switch to "2". The factory stereo unit does not detect the CD changer at all. The cd changer has power, however. I can plug the old cd changer in and it is detected but errors as the changer is broken (which is why I bought a new one...). Do the 1991's have a different pinout on the cd changer connector? Or am I to assume that my used cd changer is actually broken?

My guess is something is wrong with your factory stereo.

Your best option is to take you cd changer to a local stereo store that sells alpine products and see if they can hook it up to a factory alpine deck to see if it works. They might charge you but I can't imagine it would be much.

I'd never seen that first cable called that before but looks like it does the same thing.

I'd go buy a new CD changer local somewhere if you can and see if it works. Then if it does (take it back or keep it) you know your changer is bad. (just hook it up. dont' install it all the way).

If it doesn't work the problem is with your cables or your head unit.

Well I will take a look at it. Does anyone have any experience using this adapter with a 1991 NSX? It does say only for 1992+. Perhaps there is a pinout difference? The HU works with the old CD changer, but the old CD changer no longer works...

The correct cable should work for all year NSX. You may want to order the correct cable from Crutchfield or somewhere and see if it works. I think I got mine from Tweeter for $15. (no shipping)
