I'm having a very difficult time cleaning the inside of the windshield on my car. Everytime I clean it, I get smudges that are left on the glass, and it becomes very apparaent if the car is driven into the sunlight.

The funny thing is that this only happens on the windshield, the side windows, and the rear windows are fine. Next to that, i use the same cleaning materials and procedures on any other car and the windows come out crystal clean, but its just not happening on my NSX!!!

I clean with ClearView glass cleaner (for cars) and a CLEAN microfiber towel. Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with the spray type car window cleaner and wipe with a cloth.
I just bought the windex clothes in the pull out plastic thingy.
Work Great, I just need to get longer arms next time I'm born, because you know next time I will be buying an NSX for sure.

Are you somehow touching the vinyl dash as you're cleaning the windshield? What type of vinyl protectant are you using? Often times just a little bit of vinyl protectant will get picked up and mixed in with the window cleaner and leave an almost impossible to remove smeary film.

The reason why the side and rear windows may not be affected is that they are much easier to reach than your windshield and thus much easier to control how you wipe off the cleaner.

Hi Jerry,

The dash and plastic parts all outgas which cause the film. Also, since you are using some type of protectant on your dash, plastic, leather seats, etc... they evaporate when in the sun causing the film. If you apply any of these protectants on the plastic or leather, leave your window open while parked it the garage so the outgasing will escape your interior.

The only thing that really removes the film is a window cleaner with ammonia so "spray it on a microfiber" and wipe down the inside windows to remove the film . Whatever product you use, spray it on a towel and wipe and don't spray it on the window since you will get it all over your dash and other parts. This is a precaution just in case the products has ammonia or other chemicals that can cause staining on other parts in the interior (espcially the plastic gauge windows, etc.).

If you notice that if the film returns after frequent cleaning, you will have to go to the ammonia based glass cleaner to get rid of the film.

I use Sprayway glass cleaner and newspaper or the brown paper that we use in our shop towel dispenser to get a real streak free clean finish on glass.
If I really want my glass to look super I then do a application of Glass Wax.
When it dries I wipe off the wax with a microfinishing cloth.
After this the glass disappears. No streaks, smears and so clear and shiny it's shocking. The only problem is the Glass Wax leaves some dust on the dash but I pick that up with a Dust Hog which is a soft paper towel with 1% mineral oil to hold the dust.
Dust Hogs work great for the dash because it comes out clean not greasy or that goofy shine some products leave.

There is a heavy duty glass cleaner called "Dirtex" that you can get at Home Depot, aerosol can. Works great.
