1. Who should install the CTSC in the Northeast Tri-state area and how much should I pay for it?
2. Im not doing anything crazy as for as insane power adders. Im using the cantrell ACIS, comptech exhaust and headers.... Do I need anything else?
3. I really dont want any blown motor issues-so what should I do to safe guard this? Id rather have less power as long as it was so safe power
4. Is it nessesary to dyno my car before and after?
5. Does this unit require any tuning or care periodically or can I just drive normally?

Im just waiting for comptech to send me the S/C as I just ordered it last night from NATE and im very excited! Can wait for my car to actually be fast

1. You work for a dealership, why wouldn't they do it??
2. Nope
3. You will probably be fine. Not much you can do. An AEM would help tune a little and make it slightly safer.
4. If you want to know how much power you gained, yes. If not, no.
5. You can drive it normally, but as stated in other threads, the ECU learns quick. You might want to reset the car every once and a while.

Im sure my dealership can install it but Id prefer someone who has done a bunch of these installs... My #1 concern is blowing my motor- that is my main concern

When I was looking at it, it was like 12-14 hours. Somewhere around $1200 bucks. I also did not have the luxury of having a dealership who does it often, but I have heard it is not rocket science.

I pay $45 an hour labor but Id rather have a pro do the install...

I did it myself. It is not hard at all. Three weeks working on it at night after work. Car fired up no problems. Took it out for a shake down last week and it was fun!!

I had to call Shad for one wire question, but it was my viewing angle on the ECU wire harness. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!

I have no tools and even less free time :frown: I think I can get it done for under $1000 no problem.

Sweet, my buddy got a CTSC !!! Gotta take me for a ride in it in ATL.

whats the worst case scenario if you do blow a motor?

Replace it with a used one. ~4500-$7,000. Or send it for a rebuild for around the same amount.

Not the end of the world.... Just charge and pay a little at a time

Bernie at Davis Acura in Langhorn PA is experienced with them. They offered me a great price for the comptech SC installed to years ago.

Agree. Based on the instructions. The kit was a breeze to install with minimal tools. I made some adjustments to where some the wires run in the engine bay. Other than that it is exactly the way they have things laid out. I will be taking it to get it tuned (fuel adjustment only). My biggest concern where fuel leaks. I also replaced my cam plugs, spool valves, valve adjustment. NO leaks anywhere now. Hence the reason for a good all day run.

Some extra stuff you will need not in the kit.

Extra shrink wrap for those oops on getting the wire just a little too hot.

Lots of electrical tape. To make the engine bay look better as you take things out of the harnesses. By now there is some old a$$ tape in that bay.

and lastly I like a good looking engine bay. Some wires do not have plastic conduit around them after you re-route them and add new ones. I used 1/4" black in the exposed locations.

Working on my car are "woosaaaw" moments

MAURICE WAS UP! See you in the ATL>

Is it nessesary to replace the cam plugs and spool valves? I just adjusted my valves about a year ago.

You don't need to know, as you have that wonderful discount you spoke of in another thread.

If I told you that I could probably get the install for $450 I wouldnt be lying  but the problem is that none of my techs have ever installed a CTSC. Id rather pay the extra $500-700 and know that it was done right. Id sleep better at night. Im thinking of having Larry B do it or Davis Acura or maybe Tischer Acura in MD... Any suggestions?

Using OEM parts, I don't think you can get a rebuild done for $7k. Obviously going with a used one would be a little cheaper but you don't know the history of the engine, therefore may not work out to be such a deal. Normally, they don't offer a warranty of any sort on a used one either.
Rebuilding means all new parts, warranty and the peace of mind of knowing how the engine is being treated.
BTW, I have a receipt for my rebuild that wasn't close to that $$ figure quoted above. Of course, I'm talking about a total that includes labor and a/m pistons. OEM pistons are roughly $1k each.

OH NO!! I had one of mine leaking so since the car was apart I did the cam plug-spool valve thing.

Its scary spending all this money for the S/C... I really hope it doesnt make my car a headache for daily driving. I have access to other cars but thats what I like about my NSX now; now worries. I would hate to have to spend another $7k for a motor rebuild. I think I need to call my insurance company too just in case my car gets stolen so im not out all the money for the S/C. I think its called a rider policy but im not sure.

My 2 cents. Leave the SC off and enjoy the car for its every day reliability.
