We all know that the first gen. NSX had a "dark brown" console. When Honda changed over to the '02 body design they also changed the console color to "bright brown"

Has anyone purchased a console recently that turned out to be a brighter brown than the factory "bright brown?" basically a bright silver.

I recently purchased some of these parts and they are brighter than my '02 console. im puzzled by this and would like some insight as to why this is.

the only thing i can think of is that two colors were offered by Honda. JDM "bright brown" or "type R bright brown" and USDM "bright brown"

thanks

Re: console color???

Good eye! Congratulations! You see the color also!

The reason for this post is because this can become an issue when wanting to replace our consoles with a new one.

Right now i got some pieces that match my '02 color and some that do not.

Example. (vent is "bright Brown" Ashtray door and side door bevels are silver)

PLUS this new color is not foiled. its warmer to the touch than the foiled stuff which leads me to believe they changed the process to something cheaper or better. ill take some pics and show you what i mean.

Re: console color???

well my camera isnt picking up the different color.

I have two part #'s here and they are both listing this console as "bright Brown"

# 77296-SL0-A02ZC and # 77296-SL0- A11ZC

if someone has recently replaced their console with any of the following part #'s can you contact me or post a pic of the color.

I Still have no clue as to why there are two part #'s yet both are listed for '02 - '05 NSX's

Re: console color???

I'd not call it brown it's more bronze, stainless/titanium look.
Anyway it's a plastic coating i've heard some call it plated since it's quite a odd build up of layers (pita to sand down)

JDM consoles are a whole other story since there is a whole range of options.

To bad i don't have all the console types in stock at the moment other wise i'd have compared it.

I do know late models come with silver and the earlier ones are bronze in acura.

Re: console color???

well my 92 was originally black when you sand it down there is a metal finish thats kinda bronze i wouldnt say Brown though

now my 2002 has a black chome kinda paint but under the console you can see that it was chromed in the process,

and my 2004 is a silver finish almost chrome but not really still a painting process there to.

and the vents on all the years are black plastic, I have not tried to sand them to see whats under neath the paint but they are all def black.

and all my NSX's are OEM original consoles never brown

was your car imported from the USA to canada or from Japan to canada?

that could change your question

Re: console color???

OK let me explain why i call it brown. On all Acura website they list the pre '02 consoles as "brown" and the '02 and up consoles as "Bright Brown" that is why i call it that. fyi. my car is Canadian.

I had a '92 and it was a dark bronze, almost black really. Yes this part was foiled also. when i say center vent i mean the frame is silver.

I now own a factory 02 Imola and this is a titanium sliver. Now when i spoke to my lady friend at acura parts and explained the color difference, she told me to give my Vin # and she would search for my console that way. she gave me the part # ending in "A02ZC"

(note: the color is not way off but in the light you can see the difference.)

On Acuraoemparts.com the '02 console part # ends in "A11ZC"

so i then decided to see if i could find other '02 nsx's with silver consoles. There are three '02 - '05 nsx for sale on prime. I then took these vin #'s and searched acuraoemparts.com to see what their part # was too. All three cars have the console part # ending in "A02ZC"

So why are these consoles listed as *****-SL0-A11ZC" !!!!!! (Bright Brown)
