Saw an ad in the Fort Myers Fl. newspaper for a 91 nsx convertible, It was custom made in california. asking 39,500 has 9000 miles blk. gold bbs. must look awsome. Anybody ever heard or this conversion?

I remember seeing one for sale in southern cali. It was black and had been in an accident. The seller claimed that it was previously owned by a NBA star and was custom made.

I saw a red (or maybe it was black...?) car that was convertible-ized. I don't know if it's the same car, but I don't think there could be *that* many in California. Where is the car you're looking at now? I saw the one I'm thinking of about a year ago in Southern California at the Honda meet at Eibach.

For me, the car I saw was a sad sight to see. IMHO, it was a hack job. Hope you're looking at a different one.

I have yet to see a convetible job on an NSX that looks good. I actually considered it years back but because the few I saw out there didn't look quite right, I decided against it. Glad I did because the coupe has grown on me and I wouldn't take my NSX any other way.

Most of the convertible conversions were done in california by Newport Convertible Conversions. You can google their website and look in the archives for the nsx, or just search nsxprime and the faq for all of the previous discussions.

Most photos show the car with the top down. Be advised that it is not a traditional convertible top. Its kind of pieced together where the owners I have talked to ended up keeping it down permanantly, or removed it (a sunny day car for sure). I was told many of them have weatherstipping issues with the top.

Be sure to search prime for concerns about structural integrity.

I did read about Newport adding some additional rigidity to the frame once they chopped it up. They put beams/bars in places where it may flex.

If I'm not mistaken, member on here "Juice" has one that he's going all out on with mods. Maybe he'll chime in and give us a sneak peak of his car to date :)

Not so long ago, m3456y, posted on the roadside pics if this car on McGregor Blvd. in FMY. He saw it up close and spoke to the owner I think. Look for his post for more info.

If you want a convertible buy a convertible. Please don't butcher a perfectly good car.Especially one as precious as an NSX.
