UGH!
On the way home tonight, I ran through third gear and a little bit of fourth to catch up to a friend's car. Right when I get in front of him, I notice a smoke coming from behind me. Then, a few seconds later, lots of smoke is coming from my car especially from the engine.
I then notice that my temp gauge is near maximum! I pull over as soon as I safely can (a few hundred feet of coasting). When I get out, I see coolant on my bumper. The coolant was condensing on the bumper. I tried driving home with the heater on full blast since I was only two miles from home but the heater wasn't putting out any heat and the car starting getting near max temp again.
So I pulled over and called for a tow truck. I have a few questions for the experts out there (Barn Man, Mark B, Larry..):
1. I only drove for a short while with the temp very high, am I still at risk for warping the head gasket or damaging anything else?
2. The tow truck driver didn't use the tow hook but hooked up his pulling hooks to part of the suspension arm. Is there risk of some type of corrosion occuring because of the metal/aluminum contact?
3. Is my car JH4NA156MT000981 - a part of the coolant hose recall? It's a 92 but the FAQ statement about the recall is a bit confusing about the affected VINs.
4. My car didn't pass smog today even though I put the cats back in. It seems to be running rich. The O2 sensors are from NSX Modified. They are not Acura provided 02 sensors but equalivalents made by Larry. I've always smelled some gas since I installed the cat bypass pipes - even when I had the stock 02 sensors still working. The 02 sensors failed within a week of header/exhaust/cat bypass install. Any ideas as to why my car running seems to be running too rich?
Thanks
