Cracked ARK DT-S exhaust

It's less than a year old. I'm trying to find my receipt. I noticed it getting a lot louder in a hurry. Finally had a chance to take a look underneath. The welds have failed and are completely seperated. I'm wondering if this can be welded back to be stronger or not. Obviously I'm trying to exchange it for a new one..:frown::mad:

Anyone ever had or seen this happen?

Wow, that's awful. I haven't seen anything like that on my 1 1/2 year old DT-S, but I'll surely be looking more closely from now on.

Please let us know how ARK responds. I was just thinking about buying their DT-X unit, but will wait until I hear how they 'take care' of you.

Good luck,

I'm not sure what the warranty is. I'm running around looking for the damn ppwk now. Looking closely, the metal just looks really cheap and thin. I'm thinking this is a bad example because I did a TON of research on this unit before I bought it, and never heard anything negative:confused:

That does look flimsy:eek: Are you sure that is a genuine ark unit and not some generic e'bay ripoff:confused:

Paul,

I had a similar crack on my Dali Rice Rocket exhaust which looked very close to the ARK exhaust (if there was no label on tips, I would have thought that they were same exhausts).

Dali replaced mine under warranty after examining the crack. Hopefully, ARK will do the same for you.

I just talked to Ark. They were very helpful. They need to see an invoice of where I bought it from. The more I talked to the guy and the more I think about it, I'm starting to think that this actually WAS a cheap ripoff and that I got scammed. I'll get the the bottom of it...grr....

hi Paul --

Who did you buy this from? If you bought it from us, I'd be happy to pull up your sales history. Just give us a ring.

Cheers,
-- Chris

Hey Chris- I just called in and checked the order history with SOS. I've bought a lot from you guys, but not this item:redface:

Paul, please check your email.

we're here to help you.. no worry ~

As an outsider who has not yet done business with SoS or ARK, I'm impressed with their response to this situation ... whether a real ARK unit or not.

Now that is good business!

Yes indeed. They were both very easy to reach by phone. We all know about SOS being solid, but the Korean owned ARK is very good, too. They even offered to send me out an original NSX OEM exhaust while I was waiting to get the faulty one repaired/replaced.

Too bad I didn't buy this exhaust from either SOS or ARK directly. Sometimes paying that extra $$ to ensure that you don't get scammed is worth the price.:frown:

that shouldn't be very difficult to weld up, assuming that the exhaust is stainless steel. should only take a few minutes to clean, jig, and weld. i would say $100 or so for a good welder to fix. sorry to see this happen. best of luck.

When is the new DT-S coming out? Any info yet? Anxious to pick one up.

Thanks!

Good luck,

I recently installed a DT-X that came by way of SOS. It is a beautiful piece of workmanship. The fit was perfect. I love the sound. It is has a nice sound on the power increase and a wonderful rumble on the deceleration. It was exactly what I was looking (listening) for. Not too loud, just a nice note. The quad tips fit very well also.
