So i was on my way home and i notice the car has some sort of squeeling sound, sounds like crickets, somewhere in the right rear passenger side of the engine bay

1) at idle, the sound is constant. If i rev it even just a little bit, it goes away until the revs drop back close to idle.

2) when im driving, the sound disappers until i step on the clutch and hold it and the sound comes back when the revs drop.

What could it be? I also have a comptech supercharger but im doubting its thw culprit.

have you noticed if it does it while the clutch is pressed in?

and then when the clutch is unpressed?

could be your throw-out bearing, but the sound would come from the Driver side but it may SOUND like it coming from the passengerside.

just a thought.

and if it squeeling is def from the passenger side it could be your AC/ compressor, or alternator pulley or the belts.

mine was doing that and when I checked the belts they were so torn up I dont know how they stayed on. LOL

Ill take a look again later today

from what i know from last night, the sound is on during idle, pressing the clutch does nothing to the sound

from idle, if i gas it, the sound disappears, unless my exhaust is just covering the sound

when driving at like 4k rpm, i clutch and as soon as the rpms start dropping, the sound comes on. If i release and let the rpms come back up, it goes away

when i say go away, i cant rule out that my exhaust is just louder... But i can say i really dont hear it as long as my revs are around 4k

where exactly is the idler pulley? Pictures anyone?

Thanks for thr suggestions so far

Is there a way to test out if it is the idler pulley? Is this the pulley connected the ac compressor? Sorry for my ignorance..... =P

it is common on comptech supercharged cars for the idler pully bearings to make noise. I had to replace one of them on my car also a few years ago.

Very good chance this is this the AC belt tensioner pulley bearing. Honda only supplies the complete pulley, but the standard size separate bearing is easily obtainable at any bearing shop at 1/10th of the price of the pulley

im leaning towards that pulley

turning the ac on/off does nothing.

how do i access that pulley? it doesnt look like i can do it from the top side of the engine bay

This does sound like it could be the idler pulley for the blower, as opposed to the A/C. This is a plastic flat faced pulley, under the alternator on the CTSC bracket.

Also I would check the tension on the SC belt, since the noise seems to change with load, not that this will really cure it, but if you tension the belt and it either goes away, or is constant, you know your issue.

I have to dig, but somewhere I have the P/N for that pulley, or CT has them for sale.

larry, is that the one youre talking about? since im supercharged, is that the piece more likely do go bad than the ac idler pulley?

Hi Ryan,

No, it would be the lower "other" in your pic. Plastic pulley:).
