here is the deal.
To get the D2 Racing coilovers we need at least 5 for the group buy. Yes the number went up, he had said 4-5 but is solid on the 5, could be D2's purchase agreement.
Cost:
-$760 which includes shipping, ground/ship, and will take 4-6 weeks. Delivered to your door.
-~$840(about) if you want it air in 5-7 days.
IF WE GET 10 FOR GROUP BUY ALL WILL BE SHIPPED AIR, 5-7 DAYS, AT THE $760 COST.

Step1: I will assemble names of those firmly desiring to join, no wavering souls, and send it to the NOLIMIT contact.
Step 2: We have 5 as required but will wait another week to see if we can get 10. When we are ready 5 or 10, you call Nolimit with your payment and address information.
Step 3: He will not order the 5+ sets until all place the order, only after I give him the list for him to check off. This ensures the agreement is met.
Step 4: We get our product in allotted time.

This list will get updated when member added.
The list so far is:

1. Thom
2. nsxrm
3. NsX_R

As a note, D2 Racing Coilovers will be going up in price 11-30% this year.

Thanks for setting this up Thom.
Please let me know when we are ready to order. I hope we can get 10 people.

I am somewhat interested but I am concerned about the ride quality.
The spring rate seems pretty stiff.
Has anyone installed this setup on a NSX?

These are touted to be similar to tiens. I was also concerned with the ride quality, but they set different spring rates at $50 a piece. So really you could play with different ride set-ups. Plus there is 36 settings for damping.

Anyhow, as soon as we get the needed number to buy we'll move forward. This price cannot last for long I presume and I'm sure many of us truly desiring these would like to have them on the way. There really is no cuttoff of when you get in, as we get 5 an order will be made, unless the number jumps to 7-8, in which we should probably wait until getting 10 folks; better deal. Later if another 5 want in I'll/we have to renegotiate to see if the price is still the same.

Does anyone have these installed or know anything at all about the ride quality or height adjustments?

I'm somewhat interested in doing this (price seems to be awesome) but in the absence of more info I'll probably stick with my orginal plans of getting the Teins.

Tagged for interest..

I am going to wait and see what the opinions are after some installations have been made.
I really do not want to buy multiple sets of springs to see what works best.

Also- Unless the springs have a variable rate coil, the adjustment of the spring should be for preload setting only.
Dampening and rebound are tuned through the oil and orifice of the valve body.

If there is another GB maybe I will join in.

Thanks

Hey S,
I'm glad you are in. I think that's why you called me yesterday, huh? Sorry bro, I was so tired from lack of sleep the past few days that I slept from 6pm until 7am this morning. I'll call you in a bit.
I spoke to the shop that is working on my car the other day, and mentioned this deal for the coilovers. The guy was floored. He said he could not reach anything even close in price to what D2 is offering (and this is even for his most inexpensive, not-so-great line of coilovers). He said with the features that this offers (36 way dampener aluminum with pillowball mounts) at this price, it is a steal! Too bad it is purple (although I think a whole lot of yellow with a very small hint of purple looking through the carbon fiber and magnesium 19" wheels could actually look pretty :-)

I've seen the D2 emblem on the hood of quite a few CLK-GTR's.

Thanks again for setting this up. I am hopeful we can get 10 people committed within the next week.

Not trying to burst your bubble. That's exactly what those D2 coilovers makers want you to think. They have no relation what so ever.

From what I've seen the D2 taiwanese stuff has pretty good package. But if you are looking for performance, it is not exactly what I would call an upgrade. Even from stock. I would be amaze if this actually handle better or can turn faster lap times at the track than stock setup.

sup J,

yeah, i was calling u about this. i just spoke with D2, and they said it's comparable to the Tien Flex. Seth from SOS recomment the Flex for street use. Also D2 told me that the coilover is manufactured in Taiwan.

This is a great deal! maybe a little gamble because no one has the set up, but for this price, it's worth the gamble!

That's is a good opinion, but untill there is proof or data that you can provide one can only speculate. Please bring on the data, you can help your fellow NSXers.

i think it really depends on your application. ride quality vs track performance. D2 have different springs for different application. so for this price, it's worth to give it a try. why wait when you can be the first to try!

Hi Andrie,
Long time no speak. The last time I saw you was probably at one of the SpeedRing events years ago. I hope you are doing well.
This is misleading and disappointing that they would make the emblem exactly like the ones you see on the CLK-GTR's.
In any case, I think this still is a good buy.

Thanks for the heads-up.

randomharmony is trying to set us up with a slightly better deal. We will know within the week. It could get the product via air for the same price we mentioned doing ground.

I'd like to get more info on these....I love the price but would hate to get something that sells for $88 on ebay claiming to be a coilover...

I'm glad you wrote. There is a little bit of a story to tell. This reply to you will also be posted under the D2 coilover post as a group purchase. We started out with two interested. One of these two, fkong777, went out and got them on his own at a good price and did not extend it to a any one else. We've heard no more from him. Then I get us a screaming deal through NoLimit motorsports -- Thing is we just need five people, right -- well, we get five people. When we are just about to give the names to NoLimit, two of these guys, Yawwn and randomharmony, get the same deal through a buddy but again like the earlier deal do not extend it to the rest of us. So, we are waiting for five people. I'm just about to buy them for the $892 price at NoLimit. If you, or anyone else can group five of us together we'll get the deal. I'll wait another week.

Thom, no reason to be calling people names.
From what I understand, Randomharmony made the arrangements to extend the offer to the rest of you all. Take a look at post #15.

Edited: I believe he also called and left you a message about making arrangements, but you never called him back.

Sidra, you can PM randomharmony about the coilovers. He has installed them on his car.

Thom. since you dropped my name. If I recalled, you were eager to take on the group buy at a Much lower pricing than I can offer. Since I have no dealing with no limit I dropped out. The price I offered was real. Now you are pointing to me and acusing me of being a hold out.

Since you had a GB going, I didnt get the D2 kit yet waiting for your GB and reviews. Still running Koni and Tanabe GF210 and I'm actually pretty happy with the setup right now.

I'm calling it the way it happened. No BS here. You offered me and only me a good price at $750, but would not extend it to others $800, and I still have your message stating it. Dropping names, why yes. I've become a little disapointed, pissed off at some, in the heart of some memebers and am expressing it for why there is not a complete GB on the D2s. I deal on the level and get rightfully pissed with shadey persons underhanding me or others. When there is shade I shine the light on it. Everyone has the right to know. Now if you can still get them for $800.00 then offer it again. Otherwise add yourself to this GB and we all get them at $760.
