dawn wash

I'd recommend using a soap made specifically for washing cars. Washing with something like Dawn all the time will leave your car with no wax protection at all.

Dawn removes wax. Skip it unless that is your intended purpose.

im considering 3m swirl remover but..would long beach blue pearl be considered a light or dark paint color?

I would lean more towards the light one but for blue but I dont think either one would matter. I have the dark for my Berlina Black and the stuff is battleship grey in color.

Use car wash shampoo at the correct mixture amount.. like couple oz to gallon of water.

Using dawn will strip wax and dry out paint and rubber parts.

You would be a good candidate to attend the Mequiar detailing class.

The original thread was whether one should or shoudn't use Dawn dishwashing liquid on a regular basis and the answer is NO. The alkalide properties will strip wax, not paint, unless you neglect entirely to hose off the Dawn, which you should do anyway even if you're using your regular car wash which will NOT take off wax immediately if it's formulated right.

A lot of people use Dawn right before the claybar procedure just to get a clean start. Make sure you use your favorite car wash after the clay job then seal off with a good quality wax.

Never heard of Dawn drying out rubber parts.

thank you svalley for your direct answer ;)

Only use Dawn to remove wax.....or unless you have some burnt casserole stuck on your car!!

In which case you should probably look into spraying your whole car in Pam.

I guess if you wash your car at Dawn it will be nice and clean before you go for a drive...

If you wash it in the afternoon then you will get rid of the dirt/dust accumulated after your drive, and will be nice and clean for you to put the car cover on...

But I don't actually think it matters what time of the day you wash your car... I always try to wash it in the shade though...
:D

The suggestion is not to use Dawn on every car wash. If you are doing a detailing project on the car and want to strip the wax and other products on your car, then use it but long term, it will not be good for your rubber. There are some who don't think it affects your rubber but why take the chance.

Here is our how to on washing your car and also Care for your Tires and Exterior Rubber for your reference.

i only dawn when i am using clay bar.
doing it too often can be harmful for your paint.
