I was working on my car getting ready for my vacation and found that it has a Dinan ECU in it. Does anyone have any info on this ecu for a 91 nsx 5sp. Just want some numbers to see if it actually does anything for my car or not.

I had a Dinan Stage I and a Dinan Stage III chip in the car. Niether one did a damn thing for performance. In fact on a back-to-back chip test dyno run I found the OEM chip to make the most power!

From the info I have been able to find this ecu is not the good. Any recommendations as to what to replace it wiht and where to find it?

I had a Dinan ECU on my old integra and also felt absolutely no improvement in performance. The only difference was the raised fuel cutoff. On my integra there was a white clip that was in the ecu that would make the chip inactive. That is what the instructions said when they sent me the ECU. I don't know how it made it active/inactive, I just remember that it was included in the instructions. If you open the ECU you may find the same in the NSX. I have no idea if this is any help for you.

my car runs fine,I just wanted to know if this ecu was any good performance wise or if anyone on here will suggest which ecu to replace it with.

As I said before:

If you want to replace it, go with the OEM. Mine ran fine with the Dinan chips too, but it runs better with the OEM.

We've dyno tested the RM / Dinan, factory, and SOS ECUs. We found the Dinan chip to perform the worse with a 3-5 hp loss across the RPM band compared to the stock chip. We found the SOS chip to increase power by 3-5 hp across the range including an 8 lb/ft increase of torque at peak power.

I owned a large BMW business in New York (The Ultimate Source) and was a large distributor and installer for Dinan. Most of there products are high quality but we found that the replacement ECU's failed to produce any more power but did substantialy decrease fuel economy. I agree with what most have said above on sticking with the OEM unit. Remember that the NSX was designed by engineers that actualy went to college! They know what there doing.

after finding out what the dinan ecu doesn't do I put a new oem ecu in the nsx today. Thanks Chris and the rest for your info.
