I did a search with no luck (so I probably used the wrong key words) with no luck, but I seem to remember a post on how to disconnect the key chime reminder buzzer, its like slow water torture at the track...beep....beep...beep....

Any help would be appreciated, Greg

Thanks but this is not the solution I was looking for. When you are at the track there are a million things to worry about; engine preformance and maintainance, tires temps and presure, who's running what, changes to make before the next session, helmets, gloves, communications, eating, fluids, etc,,,,,
if you remove the key it can and will get lost (yes I carry two spares),,, hence the request for other solutions.

If I'm not mistaken, you can also pull the key partway out and the chime will go off. I think.

Then again, how long are you going to let the car sit with the key in the ignition and the door open? Just shut the door and the chime will go off...

I like it. Remember, it gives four short notes because that is Morse code for the letter H, for Honda. It's singing the Honda song.

But if it bothers you, you CAN remove the key or pull it out partway or close the door, three perfectly viable options...

Greg,

If I am not mistaken the chime in attached to the knee bolster around the steering wheel. I know when you remove that part to mess with the cord reel, etc., that the chime gets disconnected. HTH.

Greg,

Take a look at page 23-143 of the service manual on line. It is not 100% clear but it looks like there is a "key in" signal on the 8 pin connector in the column. You can try disconnecting terminal "A" and this may kill it.

HTH,

No, I hate it too. With the exception of the NSX all other vehicles I own have had the ding, buzzer, chime, or other irritating device removed. I like to use the stereo in my vehicle and leave the door open at picnics or one of my friends or families house. I could never understand why the buzzer was even made to chime when the stereo was on the car not running and the door open. It just make no sense to me.
I also like to just leave the keys in the ignition any ways. If I always leave them in the ignition then I do not need a ring tone to let me know they are there. This might seem foolish to some of you, but where I live there is little crime. The incident that netviper recently had with his car might have made the front page of the local paper here.

The purpose of the chime is to remind you that you left the key in the ignition, so you don't lock yourself out of your car.

Sounds like another product oportunity for Bryan Z. - "Smart Chime"

Ah ha, now it all makes sense. I never thought of it that way because I dont lock my vehicles around here. I can now see how it would be a valuable item for some one that does lock thier vehicle.

I just got in from the garage, where I was trying to figure out how to keep the chime from sounding for the very same purpose. Guess there is no easy answer.

Is that really intentional or just a neat coincidence?

I heard years ago (when I bought my first Honda auto in '84) that that was intentional and true of all Hondas. I don't know if it's true but that's what I heard.

I believe you should look for Ignition Key Warning, or Ign Key Warn. I don't think its called Chime... ding dong... etc hehe :-)

Temp solution, obviously with door being open and all.... use your key or screw driver, gently push the door lock latch on the door itself (that part the garbs the silver hook on the door jam)... Now that car thinks the door is closed! Look the beep...beep...beep is gone until you pull the door handle to release it of course...

cuz trying to close a door already closed, while the latch is in the jam position, would hurt you more, than huring the NSX. Especially when you trying to really close the door while your being watched by your buds at the track...

Hey look at the guy trying to close his NSX door! What a dumb a**... :-)

I do this all the time while I'm working on the car in the garage, and listening to tunes! Works great no wires to pull... only takes a sec... and only temp, until you pull the handle!... so that the Honda chime/morse code isn't driving you nuts...
