Do you listen to your radio?

I love music... I can't stand the quality of the factory radio... and I don't like the antenna up (nothing done about it yet).

Plus when I am driving, I am highly alert and making sure I am not run over by an SUV driver on his cell phone. I listen to the motor so I can match revs and shift well (I prefer listening than watching the tach). For these reasons, I never listen to my radio. Maybe 3 minutes in 3 months of ownership.

I have always had decent systems in my cars, and I was thinking of upgrading the factory one. But I find myself never even using the radio. Not sure if its because it sucks, or because I'd feel like I missing out on the car's feedback.

I am just wondering... is there anyone else that actually DOES listen to their radio a lot? I am thinking of just yanking the system, putting it in a box, and storing it. Radio, speakers, sub, antenna amp and CD changer & brackets. How much does all this weigh anyway?

Do you guys use your radio? especially if its a good system?

I put a switch in to keep the radio antenna down unless I want it up... I also put in a module to hook my iPod up to the stereo... I only listen to the iPod now... no CD changer anymore.

I rarely listen to it. Depends what mood I'm in, but I agree the system kinda is bad, but then again I've got a pretty good system in the tl.

Depends on how I'm driving - cruising or commuting, definitely (well CDs, rarely radio) but 'on-it' most likely not.

How did you do it? I want iPod to factory audio system :)

Turbo- Can't tell you how many times I almost posted this same question. I too have thought about an answer to this one since I got my car...and I decided, I do not listen to the radio because it sucks royally. I have turned it on now a whopping 2 times in 3 months.

I know there is the Smartenna and the like, but that just seems like an irritating fix. Then of course, we can tear the car apart and upgrade, which is also a hassle. I can't decide on using a double din, which I prefer looks wise, but the cost is much higher, and I'll likely hardly ever use the Nav., which makes it a pointless upgrade. I think about a single din and that does nothing for me either.

Guess it is about the same with the HID light upgrade. I have only driven in the dark once now. Just hard to justify spending the money.......

Why couldn't they have just made the car perfect? Would have been much easier on us owners.

I did the ipod thing too...I only listen to talk radio..and that's rare.

I removed mine, I just have an ipod now (in the armrest)

Mine has been broken for like 3 years, and I haven't even thought about fixing it. Listening to music while driving that car just isn't a big deal to me. Maybe if it was a DD, it'd be a different story. I need to just yank mine out.

Coming from a stock radio in a Type-R, I think the NSX radio is awesome! lol.
I guess its just what you're used to...

If you want to avoid having to add an external switch to retract your antenna while in aux or CD mode, you can use this method with a Blitzsafe & Smartenna to do it automatically. Also the only solution that will allow the combination of CD changer AND IPod (or other auxiliary device)

Change mine to Kenwood. I do listen to easy music from time to time just like the Stig.

I'll give you one guess, do you think I listen to radio?

...no antenna:confused:

Yes but the NSX has 2 antennas in it... Removing the external one doesn't prove you don't listen to the radio... You have another antenna in the engine hatch...

i only listen to my radio when i drive conservative. other than that radio is off, and tuned in to my sweet exhaust note. Vrooom! we all need music here and there,....it sets the mood and completes the driving experience. IMO

check out this thread. I still use the Aux-pod, but I'm resigned to using the controls on the iPod instead of the radio. I put it all under the stereo behind the ashtray with a little pigtail sticking out through a hole in the ashtray...

Thank you :)

i can't believe anybody listens to the radio at all..... in times when you can burn a cd for nothing or have an mp3 player play any song you want - what do you need edited music with commericals for?

anyway, i think i'd listen to the cd player in my car while driving on the highway and stuff if my speakers still worked :frown: the driver side one works intermittently. stupid bose. stupid people who think bose is good stuff - high end stereos for people who don't know crap about stereos.

I added the Alpine CD/MP3 player and disconnected the power antenna. If I were going to upgrade I would probably do the SOS system to keep the stock look.

I listen to the radio every day - couldn't live without NPR for the news on my morning and afternoon commute.

For music on longer drives, I use a cassette adaptor and my iPod. It's not the best sounding stereo I've ever heard, but it's far from the worst.

I almost never listen to the radio anymore. Listening to the CD changer is worthless because it skips everytime a gnat farts near it. I prefer just to listen to the car doing its thing.

My first CD changer skipped a lot too. Recently replaced it with an Alpine MP3 changer. No more skipping. Probably more to do with the fact it's new than with any sort of MP3 buffering. Anybody know how many seconds are buffered?
