Downforce GT Diffuser

Few months ago I purchased a single exit exhaust from Taitec (GT009) with this I lost my OEM rear valence. After a few couple of months of research I found the my only options for a valence was the Taitec Gt Diffuser which i like, talking to some vendors I was told that Downforce made a replica of this diffuser made out of Carbon Fiber instead of Carbon Kevlar. I looked for some pictures of their diffuser just to have a better idea how much difference the DF had compared to the original one, for my surprise I found a couple low res pictures from it but since it was a replica made by Downforce i didn't think it too long and bought it. After 40 days down the road after a bunch of emails back and forth (Downforce was very busy at that time with SEMA i was told) I received my Diffuser and found myself with a very poor made piece of carbon fiber that didn't resemble nothing to the original one.

1.The Center Cf part its attached to the other to side pieces using a plate that connect both pieces using 10 bolts, in this case there is a extension from the center cf piece that replaces the attachment plate, limitating the stability of the diffuser.
2.The canards or however you guys wanna call them seems like they were made for completely different part, the offer a horrible gap between the two pieces.
3.The two side pieces that have to be attach to the center part of the diffuser are bent right on the lip where the center piece has to bolt on to the side pieces. The actual edge of the lips are not straight which makes them impossible to attach to center piece of the diffuser without adding a lot of stress to the parts almost to the point that seems like the'll crack if i even try to put the bolt on them.

I'm very disappointed about the quality of the part, it makes me think that they made the part just to get my order out of the way cause of the SEMA.
If you have a center exit exhaust or something that wont follow the OEM style I wouldn't recommend this diffuser at all, replica or not its not a good quality part.
Ill be sending this back on Monday and start looking for a Taitec one.

This are some pictures of the original diffuser thanks a friend on prime, here you can see how the strakes show perfect fitment and no gap in between. There is also a picture of the plate that uses 10 bolts on each side to connection the side pieces to the wing instead of 5 on each side.

Can you just return it and get the Taitec instead? Speed Star out of Canada has pretty good pricing, I was quoted at least a few hundred dollars cheaper than S.O.S.

Well after a bunch a phone calls, I got things work out but to be honest thanks to the person I got the parts from. He did work for me and kept me update with any changes, if it wasn't for him I think other would've been the out come. I can refer him to you if you want. Nico

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I purchased this same item from Downforce shortly after you and apparently they made some modifications to the design. The 3 pieces bolt together with no attachment plate and the fit is excellent. The only issue I had was that it is a PITA to install because you have to remove your rear bumper to extract your oem valance. Other than that I am very satisfied with the diffuser and the CS I recieved from Downforce. They answered all my emails and phone calls promptly, courteously and send me a link to a pdf with instructions.

I am having the same ordeal with a recent DF GT diffuser. I received mines and it was pretty rough, the raw carbon side thats facing up from the rear is all loose. The fibres are not gel coated properly and lifting up to a point that I will have to fix it at a body shop. There’s chips on some parts. I sent pics to Johnny at jdmmotoring and he’s like he’ll see what they say.

I had to contacted him again. He was like they said “$50 refund”. Now this matter has escalated to a point that I will have to contact DF myself as the vendor is useless at this point and doesn’t want to work with me on resolving this. He’s saying I already installed it and I should have returned it. Well, first of all, I sent him pics of the damaged parts before I even installed it on my car. Upon opening the box, the brackets (long carbon fibre bar) that attached the 3 diffuser pieces was missing.

I told him about it and he said he will get back to me. I got a response from him saying “DF said it doesn’t come with a brackets” try and install it and see the DF PDF he’s sending me. I feel like the vendor himself was done with me and didn’t value me as a customer. He failed to acknowledged the fact I sent him the damaged pics of the pieces prior to install. I bought my BBK from him in the past as well. I will now have to call DF myself and try to get a resolution. I will see what happens next when I speak to DF.

Interested as well to know if the Taitec is still available. Eventually planning to go this route and would rather have it over the downforce one unless it is double the price. Would definitely pay a couple hundred more for the real deal that is made better.

Got word last week from Johnny, that DF will give me $75 refund today.

I just wanna say a big thank you to Johnny from Jdmotoring for fixing the issue for me. He went above and beyond, to help me with the diffuser. He got me a partial refund from DF. I’ll be getting the diffuser repaired at the body shop.

is the original taitec diffuser still available to order?

I was told that the owner/founder of Taitec passed away a while back. He had health troubles as I had mine on order and I'm not sure if that affected things, I waited a loooooong time for my diffuser to arrive. Not sure if they are still in business and if so who is making their parts now.

But. To be honest my taitec diffuser wasn't perfect either. But once it's mounted you can't see it.
