Driver door auto lock issue

So - call me old fashioned, but I always open the car door for my girlfriends. I have keyless so its great b/c I just unlock it and open up the door for them. However, opening the door and closing it for them by the time I get around to my side its always locked again. So getting into my car always requires I unlock - autolock - unlock. Its pretty annoying. Any ideas?

Someone may have a workaround for you, but the autolock is working the way it was designed. If you unlock using the keyless and don't open the driver door in 15 seconds (pretty sure its 15), both doors should lock again. I've been told its a security measure so you don't accidentally leave the car unlocked if you unintentionally press the unlock button.

So, a few options:
1. Don't open the door for the girlfriend
2. Unlock and open the driver door, then go and open the passenger door
3. Hope someone has a workaround
4. Run faster from the passenger side to the driver side

some of the dealer installed keyless entry has settings on the control module and you can shut off the auto lock feature. locate the contol module and check it. If it has it' its a slide type switch with 3 settings. If it doesn't have it check the owners manual for the keyless entry, there may be a way to change the settings

Yeah, I've been kicking around the "smartLock" for a while now....along with a SmartTrunk. But it requires two sets of connectors and shells...which require a $4K initial investment to buy the minimum order. Along with a small IC board and a package....too much to justify anything more than a one-off. (Doubtful anybody will pay $100 for a few connectors and $2 in ICs)

However, for the price of a paperclip: You CAN easily jump the Passenger door and the Driver door connections at the Security Unit.

That way when you open the passenger door, the security unit will think that you opened the driver door too. Therefore, the Security Unit will not send command to lock the doors again as you race around to open the driver door.

Downsides: When you open the passenger door, the driver door light will come on. If you have the key in the ignition: it will sound a "key left behind" chime.

Other than that: it works perfectly.

A diode would be slightly better. So that way when you open the driver door, the Security Unit won't think that you opened the passenger door---which amounts to turning on the door courtesy light.

Drew

If money is not problem, lets get $5K together an make a PnP contraption that will solve the problem once and for all.

I'm waiting for somebody to sell me some connectors so I can build the prototype. But so far all my pleas for the past 5+ years have gone unanswered....and I have been very persistant.

I've tried all those, too.
Here are two more possiblities:

5. Use the key.
6. Get an aftermarket keyless entry.

I still use either #5 or #4.

sabrex.... i hope you also open your girlfriend's door upon exiting your nsx.
reason being:

1]saves the painful crack upon the inside door handle failing
2]offers you casual, easy access to all her naughty bits....

but i like reason #1 the best.....who needs nsx diy!!
