Anybody here buy or use DVD Audio? Where do you buy your discs? Is there a way to find out if a certain CD that you want is available in DVD Audio format? Will this technology be around for awhile? Is it worth stocking up on discs only to be replaced in the near future by something else?

I have a DVD audio player in my TL. I am amazed at how good the sound of them are. I can tell the difference between them and a standard CD.
I have been able to find a decent selection at Amazon.com. I have also found them at BestBuy.
As for the future of them, I couldn't say. There aren't many on the market currently but I keep hearing that more are coming. Who knows.
Highly recommend Eagles' Hotel California!!! AAA+++

I have a TL as well and on the TL forums site, I have seen a reference to the following site as a good source for DVD-A. Even looks like they have a sale on now. http://www.dvdempire.com/index.asp?userid=99364398859870&tab_id=8&site_id=12&site_media_id=0
However, I've found the selection to be limited and not in line with my tastes. The TL site ( http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/ )also has some very good writeups on DVD-A including how you can use a DVD burner to load up a bunch of your favorite tunes. They won't be in 5.1 surround .. but you'll be able to put a whole lot of them on one disk.

The site I use to get multichannel audio is Acoustic Sounds (http://www.acousticsounds.com), they have good selections on DVD-audio and SACD-s.
One of the Fry's electronics here in Houston also has a decent selection of DVD-audios (Much better than Best Buy)

For titles information, go to audio sites like audioholics.com, hometheaterhifi.com, .. they usually have info-s on multichannel titles.

To "REALLY" Enjoy the experience of DVD AUDIO, one must set-up a system at 'HOME'...DVD Audio is recorded in 5 Channels meaning all channels should be playing full range which means that all speakers should at least be the same size and freq response to have matching sound.
Amplification should also be the same to all channels/speakers again so the sound from each channel/speaker will match.

I had such a set-up and it costs more than what I wanted to spend + the cost of DVD AUDIO DISCS are quite high.

If you have the means and room to do it, definitely do..the experience is phenomenal.

About DVD AUDIO in "cars", They are definitely an upgrade to stock stereo or even the BOSE Upgrade, but still not as impressive as a WELL thought out and installed "Aftermarket STEREO" system..Stereo as in 2 Channels with a dedicated subwoofer....IMHO of course.

I'm not saying that TL audio system will work with SACD-s.
I just pointed out the site I used to get multichannel Audio discs (DVD-Audio and SACD). :) ..

As of SACD-s, if the disc is hybrid SACD, you should be able to play it in normal audio CD mode.

Peace .. Gus

Sorry. Just thought I should point out that it wouldn't since that was the car of topic at the moment.
