From what I have read, the V70A is the same tire as the V700 accept the V700 is the US market tire. Can anyone confirm?

Reason I ask is that the V70A appears to be available in a few advantageous sizes (for the NSX) not found in the V700, or most anywhere else for that matter.

I've bought 2 sets of V700's so far this year. The first set said "V700" on the sidewall. It wasn't until I had put the second set on several times (different wheels and tire sizes from the first set) that I noticed the sidewall says "V70A." I have not noticed any difference in the two sets, they sit side by side in the garage and show similar wear patterns, and they both drive the same.

I've been meaning to ask my tire store folks about that, just haven't gotten the time.

But now that you mention it, what is the difference? Does anyone know?

Interesting. My bet is that one is for the US market and the other would be for other markets. I did read one reference about the V70A in Austraila. If you look at this website, they show the V70A available in 225/40R17, where the V700 is not available in that size. 225/40R17 would be a nice size to have for 17" rims.

if it's for different market, would that be possible if one is with the softer compound??

Anybody had a good way of testing which one has the softer compound???
I guessed you don't need to cut a piece out and chew on it right??
LOL.

Thats very interesting....and yes, 225/40-17 WOULD be the perfect size to maximize rubber in the front without the hassle of alturing the front body work :):)

I talked to the folks at Sasco Sports who have the V70A's listed. None in stock and none available. He said the compound is about 20% softer than the V700's and that not many people care for them. In fact, he said that Kuhmo is likely to discontinue the V70A's totaly. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
