hey i was wondering...
why do people who want to see their engines spend 500 plus on a mesh or see-through engine cover?
why not simply take the stock one off and see the engine through the stock glass? ??
TIA

It doesn't cost enough?

People like to show case the engine by dressing it up.

The reason to get an expo cover is to protect the engine hoses from UV lights, because early model NSX (NA1 and early NA2) comes with none UV protection glass. If you get one, make sure it is either meshed or tinted.

If you get one that is not tinted or meshed, it really wouldn't do you any good other than have a pretty cover above the engine.

No engine cover can cause several problems... without the gasket the rear hatch will ocillate on the freeway, engine heat can also lead to cracking in the glass if you put cold water on the hatch. I have heard of issues with fogging in colder climates, the engine also looks somewhat unfinished without a cover, in that you can see the firewall, etc.

There are a variety of options with engine covers... aside from fixing the above issues they also add a bit of carbon fiber to a very visible area of the car.

Thats like saying why wear a nice shirt at all during summer when you can just be shirtless.

UV protective tint and remove the cover, much cheeper looks cool. Almost a double take on people who dont know what the car is.
When people come up to me and ask me to pop the hood I do. When they see theres no motor there I tell them its hybrid
