Just curious if anyone here has ever driven out to El Mirage dry lakebed recently (since they started charging to get in.) I went a couple years ago (back when it was free) in the ol' Accord and it was a blast. The lakebed surface is so quiet and smooth at speed that it's almost eerie.

Anyway, I doubt I would ever take the NSX, because even after a thorough washing I was finding dust in the car for weeks. Here are a couple pics of me and the the trusty Accord stretching our legs:

So i guess they charge in the salt flats as well?

Dunno... I doubt it though... I think the only reason the BLM started charging for access to El Mirage is because California is straight broke right now

Ive been there with a rental car. My freind's grandfather lives there and you have to cross that lake bed in order to get to his house. Last time I talked to his grandfather he was building a S2000 powered car to break some sort of speed record.

Wow that would be an awesome place to live... it's very isolated.

Sometimes I've thought about renting a lotus or something from one of those "exotic" rental places and taking it out to the lakebed, haha. Not sure how happy they'd be if I brought it back covered in dust inside and out, though

I've been there....this might find a better home in the so-cal section.

But yeah, went in my buddies RX-7...the road into the lake bed sucks..don't know if the fixed that for lowered cars.

Took a nice pic of his speedo around 175 Mph...basically topped out.

Oh Yeah!...Dust for weeks is very true.
