Exhaust component...help

'91 with 60k miles...The pipe that runs from the front exhaust manifold (firewall side) to the cat....Anyone know where I can pick one up at a reasonable price?....Dealer wants $700+ for this two foot section of pipe. Thanks.

BTW...This was the source of a "whump whump" sound I had been hearing...Apparently a portion of the pipe is double walled and has broken down and begun to resonate.

I think the first step to take is to find someone locally that has upgraded to a set of headers and see if you can take it off of his/her hands.

I have seen a stack of manifolds at an ex-local NSX mechanic when he had his shop in SoCal. Owners that have headers installed don't really want these manifolds anyway. So you can call a local mechanics.

If you want them new, may be you should consider a set of headers for around $1200-$1500 (DC, Taitec or Comptech). $700 for a factory manifold is just crazy. May as well spend a little more to free up a few (11 or so) ponies.

Yeah...$700 is outrageous and it's not even the manifold. It's simply the two foot pipe running from the manifold to the cat.

Thanks Prime...Found a member installing headers...I now have a replacement pipe at a very reasonable cost.
