would anyone be interested in helping me install an aftermarket exhaust? i am not very mechanically inclined, but would like to make an attempt at installing it myself with the help of someone who is. i really dont have anything to offer in return other than a good time tinkering with an nsx, beers, and burgers on the bar-b.

I'd be more than happy to help. You're more than welcome to use my garage as it has a mid-rise lift, which is nice for these types of things.

If you come out to Dexter, let me know and if I'm available, I'd be glad to help. I've changed exhausts on a couple of DSS cars from the headers back.

Don't do it without me! I'm in Atlanta and Ft. Lauderdale until June 19, but will be back in Ann Arbor on the 20th!

i just love this site. you guys are great. i just need to pick out which exhaust i want and we're off. i read through the exhaust section of the faq. i'm leaning towards rsr... simply because it seems like the best value. but i'd ideally like to actually hear the different types before making a decision. andie, tim, and dan... what brand exhausts do you have? is there a general consensus among owners as to which sounds the best? i'd like it to be loud without being obnoxious.

Too bad you weren't at GingerMan a couple of weeks ago to hear for yourself...

Hey, if you guys manage to get together for a exhausting session - please have someone bring along a digital camera to document the process.

I don't recall seeing a photographic essay and writeup on this task.

I believe the RSR exhaust is no longer being imported in the US. So you'd actually have to buy one from Japan, or a used one from someone. The Dali Finstar is within the same price range, and so is the SoS Taitec GT exhaust, both of which have decent pricing.

It’d be worthwhile to wait for Andie, not only because he designed and built his own exhaust (which sounds awesome and shoots flames!), but because he makes a mean plate of ribs.

In terms of which exhaust is best for you and your car…it’s all a matter of taste. I’ve had OEM, RM and currently Comptech Resonated on my car. For me, the OEM is too quiet, the RM was too loud and the Competech is just right…I’m sure I’ll change my mind again. It’d be interesting to hear some reports on the Finstar (sp?) exhaust that Dali is selling and I really have my heart set on the 18lb $3,200 titanium exhaust that Mark sells <g>.

Jimbo – I took some pictures a while ago and put them on my DIY site, I’ll try to write up the procedure within the next few weeks. www.danoland.com/nsxgarage scroll down to exhaust.

Most likely, there will be some OEM, RM and Comptech exhausts at Gingerman on Monday (18th).

I need help too... I'll be getting the Taitec Parrallel this week sometime. I hope to install it this weekend or sometime during next week. I can't wait. I'm in the SF Bay Area. I'd really like to do it with someone who has done it before...

i had my mind set on the finstar... the mp3 sounded pretty good. but when i went to purchase it on daliracing.com its says 91-94 only. bummer. i'm trying to verify that they dont make it for the newer models. my second choice is the taitec. what is the first available weekend for you (andie? tim?)?

Hey DanO, where did you get that snazzy lift of yours, and how much did it cost you?

Name the time and I'll be there if possible. Finally met Dano as he stopped me on the street.

I’m pretty free this weekend and the 28th of July looks OK right now. Drop Tim and me an email when you get your exhaust!

Unfortunately for me (but fortunately for Carbotech) Andie has moved to Ft. Lauderdale to run the show at Carbotech Eng.

Right now I can’t recall from where I bought my lift, but if you go to www.bendpak.com and click on “products” and “low rise lifts”, it’s Model “LR 60” and I think I paid around $1,300 including common carrier shipping. The lift weighs around 600lbs so I had to pay a little extra for a truck with a liftgate to deliver to my house. I’m sure if you contact Bendpak/Ranger products they will be more than happy to give you a list of distributors. It doesn’t “exactly” fit the NSX but it does the job very well.

P.S. – Last night - had a dream I was a muffler, woke up exhausted; doctor said it was a nocturnal emission.
