Fair Price for a Special-Ordered 2020?

Looking for wisdom from the collective, here.

I am working deals on some of the existing 2019s/2020s sitting on dealer lots around the country. But I don't think I will succeed, as if I'm going to spend $150k+ on a car, I want it to be outfitted the way I want, not *sort of* the way I want.

So I have also started talking with one dealership about a fair price for ordering a 2020 to my specs. I know about the $20k incentive from Acura when financing through them, but what's a good deal to expect right now? With an ordinary car, you can easily look online to see the sticker price, invoice price, and any additional dealer holdbacks. With the NSX, it's not so easy!

Depending on the dealer, you should be able to get between $5K-$10K off on a new order. It will really depend on the dealership though, and you’ll have to decide if it’s worth dealing with a dealer that’s not within 500 miles of your location. Buying from a dealership in the Midwest can save you more money, but then it’ll cost you $2K-$3K to have it transported in an enclosed carrier, plus your travel costs to the dealership to sign paperwork. Of course, you could drive the car back to California, but that’d be a lot of miles to put on.

Thanks, dc1edh. My plan actually would be to drive the car home--that would be part of the fun. I don't mind putting miles on it, as I figure that's what having a nice, fun car is for.

Regarding pricing the one dealer I got furthest along with is basically taking $5k off (just like you said). I checked the Costco Auto Program and USAA Car Buying Program, and they both do ~$11k off without even having to negotiate. So unless anyone else chimes in here telling me that getting more than $11k (plus the $20k incentive) is possible, I'll probably just use one of those services and call it good.

DJ Iceman, I'm in the market as well. Are you saying that dealers through Costco will give you 11K off on top of the 20K incentive from acura financing?

That's what the Costco site implies, Gino, of course the proof is in the pudding. I could see less-than-good dealers saying that part of the $11k Costco discount is actually the manufacturer incentive.

Casino White / Orchid

Alcatera

The dealership is Crown Acura in Clearwater, FL they are absolutely the most "first-class" dealership I have ever dealt with. They are also in the top #10 of NSX dealers in US / Canada. So, they are on a first name basis with the NSX factory. If you want the GMs contact info PM me.

Just for a little clarification on the pudding. The actual saying should be "The proof of the pudding is in the eating". So I guess that you'll really have to have Costco write it up and sign it before you'll really know.

Good luck.

Agreed, Spottwd. Luckily our Prime friend powdbyrice at Acura of Fremont matched the Costco pricing without me having to go through Costco, so a little over $11k off, plus the $20k Acura incentive.

And before B&B asks, I spec'd it out almost completely loaded ($197,495 MSRP), and I live in southern California. Car is set to be built in October, and my wife and I will be flying out for the experiences at the factory.

Nord Grey on Blue

Congrats on getting them to unretire the color again

Likely to be the only car with that color combo

Yup, one-of-a-kind for sure (unless someone else comes along and special orders the same combo again in the future)!

Excellent! One of the things I like about my car is that it is loaded with everything. I love the carbon fiber roof, exterior package as well as the carbon diffuser. They give the car a special look. Your color combo sounds great. Now you have to wait for it.

Thanks, drmanny3. I've waited since 1990 to own my dream car, so while the next few months will be excruciating, I know the wait will be worth it! I looked at so many cars on dealer lots around the country that weren't outfitted the way I wanted, and the dealers were unable or unwilling to offer what I considered suitable deals. Now I found a great salesman who operates with integrity and common sense, and I'm happy to be getting exactly the car I want!

I wanted to echo this, powdbyrice has been really great to work with. Probably going to buy a new NSX from him (if I go that route), due to how straightforward and easy the experience has been.

Yes, I echo that sentiment as well. In addition, Powdbyrice has contributed a lot of useful info to this board. Definitely go with him on your new NSX instead of with the Roseville dealership.

That will be a cool car. Congrats ...
