I've been waiting for months for someone to sell a set of used 02+ wheels and people just aren't selling them.

I searched around and I see there are some fake/replica 02+ wheels on the internet. They seem to be made by "Asahi manufacture" instead of BBS. And they're cast instead of forged. BUT they're CHEAP.

Basically right around $1,000-$1,150 for all 4.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these.
Is there anything wrong with them?
Any saftey issues or anything?

Thanks for the plug bro:biggrin:

As the above post states I have a set. The only difference is weight from the them being cast not forged.

Their was a thread on this and I basically told the board from everything I've seen they're are three sets of fake/replica wheels out there. Some are obvious and you can see them on the garagekite website

The ones that say NS

I saw a set on ebay that were in China that a guy tried to pass off as authentic but the center caps paint color didn't match the wheels. Primers reported him to ebay LOL

Then there's the set I got from Japan that have the real NSX-R center caps and the wheels painted to match the center cap color. I still can't believe they got me:mad: Of course when I go to meets people can't tell the difference.

Also there's a real set for sale on prime they just have some "paint" color issues as the add says.

I decided to have my OEM wheels painted gunmetal after seeing how good Dans came out. I took the silver center Acura emblem off my center caps and replaced them with red H stickers I got from Modern image. I found them from the job they did on Jasons ( Nsxsupra ) white conversion wheel center caps.

Here's how they turned out

And here's the real deal

I also have an OEM set after trying one of the replicas out. Weight Difference itself is noticeable... Forged versus cheap cast wheels. Honestly, why back new fakes for $1200 ish when a few hundred more will get you get real ones. It makes no sense to pay $1200 for fakes that everyone will guarantee will be off your car and bent in a matter of time. Real poor investment IMO.

LOL Way to cut throat!

Which replica set did you try and how did you bend them?

My bad didn't mean to!!! I'll edit my prices... The point was quoting ebay prices when they were on there, and I claimed ebay prices for the chinese stuff I bought for replicas as well. Luckily mine were all damaged so I didn't have to worry abotu returning them as a claims check was written for me.

As for bending them, I didn't to that set, but you could see they deff were easily bendable. I saw the indents during shipment from just simple heat and cooling contracting. I laid one box on top of another in my garage waiting for claims, and the bottom one was warped...

Dude it was hilarious! I was thinking man prime for sale section just got cut throat ..LOL

Wow that definitely sounds like a bad set. I had mine on the car and actually tracked them. They performed great and when I swapped the tires off they were fine.

But you gotta be careful as just like you experienced it's not always worth it to buy a cheap set vs a used OEM set!

Yeah, youguys are making me second think things. The price difference between used OEM BBS, and the Replicas isn't that much. All it would take is messing up 1 of the replicas during a tire change and I would have gained nothing.

The only negative is it's hard to find OEMs forsale. I guess I'll wait another month or two and see if any show up.

Thanks for the input everyone!

There are two sets for sale Carcrazed4Life has a set and Dan has a set painted gunmetal.

Both are in the parts for sale section

How did you determine these are fake / replica wheels? Also, how did you find out they are cast rather than forged? (I didn't see any mention of this in any of the links you posted)

As far as I can tell, those stores are advertising genuine wheels. They generally sell refinished stock take-offs for normal mass-produced cars, but ...

They just put the whole catalog online, regardless of what they have on-hand or even available for order. They will have wheels for high volume cars, but not any for cars like the NSX.

Ask if they have it in stock. ;)

More info:

Have you called to find out how many they have on-hand right now?

If you decide to pursue this, it's a good idea to pay only when they have wheels in stock...

... i had dealt with 3 different online companies for the 02+ rims before, they all charged my credit card, let me wait and wait, wheels never came, and they slowed down the refund process the best they can. Funny that whoever I talked to in those companies, seems like those outsorced indian tele-workers. (Disclaimer: I have nothing against them) No matter what I told them, they will only give me one answer, "This will be handled by different department, you should see your refund in few days"... Here's the best part: "no sir, you cannot talk to them, i can't transfer you there and I don't have their number" Asking for their direct supervisor? "No Sir, we don't have manager or supervisor here." or "He's in meeting"

I ended up dispusing one of the charges after 6 weeks of purchase, and gave up getting these too-good-to be true rims deal..

"Notes: Asahi manufacture; . Please make sure to select the desired style/color; The pictures on the web are in black-and-white. Product does not come with Lugnuts or Center Caps "

Had the Exact experience...its all a SCAM

Wow I was not aware OEM 02+ wheels.tires are in such high demand! hehe

I have my OEM setup on my car and only put 600 miles on them (previous owners also had aftermarket rims so tires are virtually new too).

Going to wash them up and store them once my Volk's get here....also didn't know OEM wheels were "Forged"? Wow even my GT3 rims were only cast I think...that's pretty high tech!

So oem rims/tires with no miles is worth an easy $2k? Is that a fair statement?

Pretty much seems that way. It's a great wheel. Forged for strength and pretty lightweight compared to most aftermarkets wheels.
