Father's day...what do you get the guy who has everything?

an IPOD and a GROM interface !!!!!!!!!!!

Let me rephrase...the simple living/non technology savvy guy who has everything he wants.

I have always had trouble getting my Dad anything b/c he always said he "does not need anything". Well this year, w/ some help from Erick he is getting a new Momo 320 tuner steering wheel w/ quick release and cruise conrtrol buttons. Now I know he does not have that! ha!

*I do not have to worry if he sees this post as he is out of town until then and does not read the forums a lot anyway.

I just take my dad out to lunch or dinner. He loves crab but doesn't really eat much of it the rest of the year, if at all, so I usually try to find some new seafood place to take him.

How about nothing? I bet he doesn't have that.

That's what I was going to say.

Nothing...except a card you spent some time picking out with a handwritten honest and heartfelt message.
And if that doesn't do it; when he is finished reading the card, hand him a beer. (or whatever other beverage he likes if he doesn't drink beer).

Best Fathers day me and my dad had was when he came to town and we caught a mess of crappie at a pond near my house. We cooked 'em up for brunch.

Take the guy fishing.

Or - in reality a heartfelt card is all a father really expects (and I bet a large portion of fathers don't get that).

i am going to get my dad some mercedes posters with frames for where his new pool is going, weather i get him the posters on fathers day or 6 months from now, well, save the best present for last right:biggrin:

My newest thing is taking my dad to a ballgame. He would never go on his own, but he loves seeing a good baseball, basketball, or football game and it's nice to treat him (and yourself) to good seats too. Something you can share together.

Pops lives in the bay area, CA....i live in Cincy. :frown:

I like the card/heartfelt message thing, but that's what I do every year.

I always look for something he can't get easy like this year a box of cuban cigars. He likes HUppman.

my father doesn't "need" anything, and gifts for him can be hard to pick.

this year I am treating him to a night out, ending with a very small venue concert of Kenny Wayne Shepard.

Fly out there and have lunch with him. There isn't a better gift you could give.

Agreed...he's on a business trip, though.

Ha, I guess I should have noted all this in the first post!

father's day doesn't NEED to be celebrated sunday if circumstances do not allow.

Were I in your place, I would give him an iou for a later date, and then do something special when your schedules allow.

No amount of money can buy time with your son or father. It is possibly the best gift you can give.

My old man is a bit tougher than that. He only leaves the house to work or deer hunt. He only gets up from the military channel to eat, pee, and sleep. He resents anything that may take up his time (“I don’t want to go to GD lunch”), and he won’t use ANY object I get him (Unless it’s a Vietnam war/Sniper book. Or a gun).
So the best thing for him that I can find is a few scratch-off lotto tickets, Father’s day themed if they’ve got ‘em. He doesn’t mind a clear shot at a million bucks.
BTW, Dad is cooler than he sounds in this description.

woohoo! Dad's flying in to stay with me for 10 days come the 26th!!

I am in the same boat, Lunch and card is what I do, spending money on anything is a waste. Last year I went out and bought the best driver club the store had, well I don't think he used it yet so it's a waste of time and $500 so I do lunch because I enjoy it also :)

This may be a good gift for him. It will probably satisfy his interest in hunting, the military, and a little sniper action.
