Hi, i had a little mishap (more to that on a different thread with pics and videos. ) last week. One of the end result is that my right rear fender liner been 'cut/trim' off. I'm wondering if I should buy a new one, or if I should just remove the fender liner.

I saw Japanese cars (Race cars, tuner cars) removed their fender liner all the time, I guessed it's to accomodate the bigger wheels and wider tires they put on.

What is the catch? Should I do that as well?? (instead of spending $90 for a new liner)

Replace it

The most obvious catch that comes to mind is that the fender will no longer be protected from rocks and other debris kicked up by the tire.

I remember the DAL race car (which had no fender liner) had all sorts of dents. Granted, it used sticky race tires which kicks up a lot of debris, but even on the street it seems like you would get a few dents over time.

It will also make things a lot dirtier and harder to clean on the inside after you drive in the rain. I would keep the liner. Buy a used one if a new one costs too much.

I had mine off when I upgraded to the new 02 rear valence. I ended up buying two new ones since I had small tears in them. I sure wouldn't want all the road grime or stones flying up and denting your fender then you would really be pissed.

Expect some small chips from stones from the ground without fender - especialy on the track. This could lead to some kind of damage and even crack the paint, visible on the upper side of the fender, not really too beautiful - been there, done that.

(Looks as if your fender has an illness we call "Pocken" here in Germany, don't know the english word)

They are using CF or FRP panels so they won't dent like the Aluminium ones will...
