I know that 245/40/18 is not recommended, but is it not recommended but it fits or it will not clear the top? 245/35/18 what it should be but I have this good deal on those 40's and I go through tires pretty quick and would pick those up if it clears.

The speed would be off a bit with it too, but my main concern is fitment.

Thanks, in advance :)

245/40-18? Are you talking about for the front, or for the rear?

For the front, they will rub on the fender well liners. Big time. They might even rub if you remove the fender well liners. That's because they're not only wider, but the outer diameter is 11.5 percent larger than stock. Definitely not recommended for the front.

On the rear, they will fit without rubbing, but there is something else to consider. You'll have to take into consideration how wide the wheels are. Most people use wider tires than 245 mm on 18" rear wheels. For example, most people with 18" rear wheels get wheels that are 10 inches wide. But most tires in this size are not approved for wheels that are this wide. (For example, the 245/40-18 Bridgestone Potenza S-03 is only approved for rim widths of 8.0-9.5 inches.)

Then the 245/40-18 is probably fine - in fact, it's probably the best size you can use, if you're using 215/40-17 in front (since they preserve the front-to-rear ratio of outer diameters nicely from the '91-93 stock ratio). I wouldn't use 245/35-18 rear with a 215/40-17 on a '91-93 because traction control starts to get iffy.

On a '94-01, the reverse is true, and the 245/35-18 will do better with the 215/40-17 than the 245/40-18 will.
