I have a 91 Automatic NSX. I would like to add some "ummphh" to it. Especially after I put on 19"/18" wheels, it feels very slow now. Anyone have suggestions on the best way to add horses and not jeopordize the tranny, or am I S.O.L. Thanks...... :)

This topic has been discussed many times. While there's nothing wrong with doing so again, if you search the FI Forum using auto* tran* sc, you will find plenty of relevant threads. ;)

Our recommendation would be the Comptech Supercharger 6 psi boost. Other items like exhaust, cold air box ect. will also be needed. Any questions call Mitch at Mechanics Direct Modifiers (978) 934-9395

MY recommendation would be to forget this idea. Remember the automatic NSX's were limited to 252 horsepower because of transmission reliability issues. It's not smart to raise the power above that, unless you are prepared to replace the tranny at regular intervals.

No, I don't remember it written by Honda that the de-tuning of auto was because of tranny reliability. In fact, I havn't heard any evidence that leads me to believe that. From a far, I am more inclined to buy into Lud's theory, from this thread

I say do it. I wish Spookyp would have done it, but he went to the darkside instead (P-car:)).

You might want to PM him as he found some places that could beef up the auto tranny if you ran into trouble.

Best of luck.
