Four Habits of Financially Peaceful People

#1 would cause me a lot more stress than peace. Instead of tracking every penny, I'd rather spend that time making more dollars.

I live so far below my income it does not matter. I added it up I live on 2-3% of my income. That will change in time but when it does it will all be paid in cash. House, car, jet, whatever

i hear ya... while we don't track every penny, we don't spend (cough, cough) too carelessly, so don't feel the need to track too closely.

ryan,
good for you! cash is a good thing to have a reserve of.

I agree -- but I do like the idea of putting $200 (or whatever) in a jar, and just spending that down over a week or a pay period. That way you're assured of never breaking your budget by charging things randomly.

You don't need to track every penny; just make sure you don't spend beyond your means (after paying mortgage/rent, bills, taxes, savings, etc.).

My motto is spend it faster than you can make it then just take a bail out from the government when I don't have any left. Thats the Democratic philosphy, no?

I found the article to be confusing and ambiguous. You could live in a monastery or sanitarium as well; but WTF would you go and do that for?

I applied the NSX enthusiast filter plug-in for IE and it read much better:

They know exactly where their money goes.
- Insert favorite go fast crack dealer here -

They know what they want their money to do.
Convert to speed. The problem isn't the currency, it's the exchange rate.

They either don't carry revolving debt, or have a specific plan to pay it down.
F1 pays its drivers pretty well, right? LOL.

They invest in their job skills, and don't expand their lifestyles as fast as their salaries.
Investing in driving skills is always a sound plan. Some of the best success stories from top tier pro drivers earned their shots in humble, low paying, positions on pit crews. But when that shot comes up; you had better be ready to deliver. I think you have to read between the lines here and really listen to what the article is saying, not telling... to get the gist of the author's intent...

Invest in yourself, go to the track as often as possible... As we all realize anyway- ultimate peace and zen is achieved sitting in the cockpit at grid before a race.
