Open your driver door, look in the jamb where the vents recieve air from the AC. its a pretty reasonable size hole, shove a fabric softner sheet in there under the vents, do this on both sides, when the air is on it also freshens up the smell of the air!

I'm affraid one may ask if I have a Dryer in the trunk.
I'll have to try this out.

I put one in my trunk to keep it fresh in there, why not the vent?

I have put a box of Baking Soda in my car when I deploy. and I have heard of dropping a dryer sheet in the trunk or car if its going to sit for a few months, but never heard of sticking a dryer sheet in the vents...my brother stuck them on his ceiling fan once when his room smelled bad.(Don't think he figured it was the dirty laundry causing the smell)

My car always has a pleasent sweet smell. Almost like butterscotch. I can not figure out why since I have used different detail products the past two years.
I am going to try the sheet method to see if this gives a change of scent. ty!

Anyone tried this? What were your results? How long does it last? Would the same thing happen if you just put it under the seats?

I've put them under my seats before and they make the car smell fresh. It usually only lasts for a week or so.

Perhaps if you fart less:wink: , the fresh smell will last longer:confused:

I am pretty anal about the way my car smells. I would try the dryer sheet trick for that cheap hotel flavor, but alas... no A/C or heat. I kind of miss the new car smell and would like to get it back. I checked wall mart's auto isle but not one was labeled "volatile organic chemical".

Apparently, the news is reporting it's not good for your health... it's like I just can't win.

I usually just hang a Downey Ball from my rearview mirror.

I rerouted the exhaust from my dryer into the garage. From there, you can take the 4" hose and just drop it into the window of the car!

Kidding, but not quite sure why I want my car to smell like a dryer.

My friend from Japan brought some car freshener beads. You place them under your floor mats and they leave the car smelling yummy for months.

My car when I turn the A/C on smells like a new car maybe my leather is in good shape.

Griot's Garage [griotsgarage.com] sells a car sent that smells just like leather. I use it in all my cars, it's great. They also have a leather care product that smells like leather and works good. One more product I use and really like is their vinyl and rubber dressing [no silicone etc] . I've always disliked the smell of airfreshners . I bought a used CRV for my daughter that had been smoked in ALOT, and used an orange oil spray that got rid of the smoke and smells just like a fresh cut orange. It's called PURE CITRUS, it's 100% pure citrus oils ,non toxic earth friendly, yada, yada, yada. I've sprayed it in the fresh air inlet to the evaporator on my car's a/c to get rid of that musty smell.

I tried it. Probably chose the wrong side(LS) to put it in. When I turned the a/c on the smell coming out of the vents was overpowering. I had to throw that sheet away at the first stop I made.
Maybe if I put it on the other side of the car I could deal with the smell a little better. Or maybe just get a different smelling sheet.

I think just having it inside the car should be fine. If you don't drive it everyday, just throw a sheet down on the floormat. I don't think air has to blow across it for it to work.
