Shipping: I can ship it to the lower 48 states for $20 via FedEx Ground. This includes insurance for the full replacement value of $900. I purchased it in the fall of 2010 at a local camera shop and have used it for a few photo shoots. It is in excellent condition, without scratches, has never been dropped or exposed to rain, and the lens elements are pristine. The lens includes a rotating tripod mount which is also like new/scratch free.
The lens will come in its original packaging with manual, warranty card, lens hood, and lens case with strap. You will note that the strap is still wrapped and has never been used.
This lens is the perfect add-on for anyone who has a Canon DSLR with the original lens and wants to add a telephoto zoom for sports/nature photography. Please note that there are older versions of this lens on eBay for less but they do not have the macro focusing capability of this lens and have older lens elements that are not enhanced for digital image sensors.
Note that on Canon Rebel DSLRs and others with APS-C sized image sensors this lens will provide the equivalent of a 100-300mm focal range!!
This lens is different from the cheaper telephoto zooms out there such as the Canon 75-300mm f4.5-5.6 or the 55-250mm f4.0-5.6 as this Sigma lens has a large fixed aperture of f2.8 throughout the focal range. What does this mean? Well it means that it is able to capture more light thus allowing you to use faster shutter speeds for action shots and better low light capability. Also it provides you with greater choice in capturing shallow depth of field images.
This lens is the equivalent of the Canon EF 70-200 f2.8 USM which retails for $2300!
I am selling this lens because I purchased a different lens that covers this focal range and no longer need this one.
