that may be a joke but i do know that there is actual utility to pouring water into the intake. I don't recall what it was for. and no it's not to hydrolock the car.

It's for ping. I remember someone back when I was a kid had a water injection thingy on his mustang. Never heard of it before or since until you just mentioned it.
