Guys,
If you were not limited to the dash configuration can you post a gauge cluster pic that you really like. I will make all this come clear once I get a design I'm interested in. Also, no digital.
Thanks,
John

Well, the first thing that comes to mind is the Lexus LFA, but you say "no digital".

The next is a bit more impractical, but using the cluster out of another Acura would keep with current lineage and be readily available.

I would think it would be way more logical to start with a cluster from another Acura (maybe the MDX, TL, etc.) and configure it to fit within the space provided from the OEM unit.

I would LOVE to have that, update the center console with the MDX setup like someone else did, and use an updated steering wheel.

Sorry, but I don't have an easy button. I'm not after a cluster to fit the space. The space will be gone altogether and a new shroud will be fitted. Once I get it finished in the Cad system I can illustrate.

Old styled, boring, and not accurate enough. It's coming and here is the proof. I will need to work on implementing it into the dash. I plan on making it into a pod.

I think the general look and layout of the gauge cluster is great. The only problem I have with it is what it looks like at night. I wish it was electro luminescent or led backlit or something instead of having an amber light shine from the top. That is old school.

+1. I like the layout. Mine was very dim until I took it apart to put or try and see if an LED setup would work. One of the upper bulbs were just blown. So it's fine for now after replacing the bulb

Id like to see what you shaking tho

Sorry, still boring and not accurate. The gauges I am replacing them with are all stepper motor driven and 270 degree swing. The speedometer can be re-calibrated for any size tire you run or any other mods (final gear ratio) you make and peak memory recall. The Tachometer has peak rpm recall and setable shift point. The water temp gauge has setable low and high limits warning led. Oil pressure gauge also has setable low and high limits. Boost gauge with same setting capablities. Fuel gauge with a user setable low led. Each one of these are microprocessor controlled.

As for as I'm concerned Acura had a chance to hit a homerun, but instead hit a single. Now this is my opinion only and for those who are happy great, but I think a fresh approach is needed. Let me say that this will not be about trying to make something fit in the present gauge pod, but something totally new.

John

PS. Possibly something along this line. I do own a machine shop so design and manufacture isn't a problem.

No where did I say it would be an "easy button" plug and play design. I'm suggesting using something that cosmetically is appealing and working the space to accommodate it.

For example, probably one of the most intense custom audio jobs I've seen someone do with an NSX was to completely re-engineer the center console to accommodate a system from the RDX:

Looks amazing, completely updates the look, and would be the equivalent of what I would consider "OEM". If you think this project was an "easy" route, you may want to look at the build thread.

I'm still not interested in utilizing another Honda product. I am looking at a completely different approach and something more out of the box (or out of my mind) approach. I am looking now for another dash to modify to start the process. I've had all the gauges custom manufactured and will begin the modeling of the gauge cluster.
