I know there have been discussions on the topic of how gold wheels look on red cars, but, i think, to a certain degree at least, there are variables that make one application work better than another. Such as: the actual tint of the gold lets say.

I know it's totally subjective, but I wanted to get opinions on this combination. I was totally against the combination when I first got the wheels, but after putting them on, they seemed to work a bit better than I expected. I think it's due to the brightness/lightness of the gold hue.

Paint black?
Paint graphite (compliment the carbon accents)
Leave gold?

Thanks for your time!

I wouldn't change a thing. That thing looks really good. Is it a turbo?!

Gorgeous car and rims, but IMO they would look at lot better in some color other than gold.

If it were me, I would get the rims refinished to be either a polished look or a deep, medium silver almost bordering on black chrome.

Whoa, that is hidious! Sell those wheels to me, hurry before more people see them on your car!

btw, I'm just kidding, your car looks awesome!

Was this your backhanded way of fishing for compliments?

No no no, not looking for anything but honest opinions.

I was planning on painting them either a graphite or black before I put them on. Once I had them on, I had second thoughts and therefore brought it to the board for a vote.

Here is the car with graphite wheels.

So, is the consensus still gold?

first ever double posting but i just gotta say man whatever wheel color you decide on between the two looks really good. you've done a sweet job on it. i have a thing for gold though.

I still like the gold. You see graphite, silver, gray, black, a lot these days. At least around here, no one has gold. It looks very different, and it goes well with a red car. I'd leave it as is. But can you at least tell us a little more about the car?

Stay Gold,, pony boy:wink:

thanks for all the feedback. much appreciated!

car is turbocharged. it's running a simple single gravity fed 60-1 turbo from my good friends at TurboLaboratories (hey Joe).

Car has left on a little trip though. felt lucky and decided to go to vegas.
hopefully she'll come back a winner :)

Just curious (and I dont want to steal the thread, but seems relevant) I just posted a thread on the gold red combo http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90697 and got mixed responses. they are the exact same rims LE37's only smaller.
Curious is it because :

a) I have a coupe/black roof
b) Less mods
c) smaller rims/smaller lip
d) ??

The gold is growing on me BUT !!...
I'm still planning on painting them black even though most of the responses in person is that they like it how it is (can't tell how many just cant picture them black, and the car does look clean/good). I'm just trying to decide whether to paint them all black or leave the lip polished.

keep it gold. It looks perfect like that and is probrably one of the best looking nsx's i have ever seen. I too plan on painting my LE28's gold when I get the chance to.

good point. i think this is a perfect example to my comment on how slight variables can make a difference. i think that my gold is a bit lighter and brighter than the gold on the standard 37s. my wheels are the limited time attack versions. i believe the color is a special gold that is used only on those models.

i don't think i would like those on my car. also, the rears are lacking the curvature of the spokes and dish. that makes a difference.

fenton say...when you cannot decide between two options, choose the less expensive!
